Comment:
One of the easiest chemistry course that I have taken so far...I was kinda scared in the beginning because only exams (midterms and final) count towards final grade and nothing else. The key is to make sure you understand the concepts and know how to apply them. Prof Kakkar is very willing to help so do ask for help!

Be careful with the textbook because he contradicts it a lot. His pace is VERY slow - he does multiple examples of one concept and then asks/answers a bunch of questions about it in class. One lecture he stopped for 30 min just to answer a question from this one person. Exams were pretty chill; just remember lectures are more important than textboo

Everything you need to know is on the slides. That said, there's a lot you need to know and, if you're not super into chemistry, it's pretty dry stuff.

Everything tested are on his slides! Never touched the textbook and got A+ on final exam. Loved his accent and his enthusiasm for chemistry. Don't worry, he's not as badtough as people say, although you should still study hard!!!

Comment:
His section of the course was mostly all memorizing. He tells you that everything in his slides are on the exam, and sure enough they were. Do not use the textbook for his section - it's confusing, inconsistent with the lectures at times, and his exam questions come from the lectures, not the book. Watch and know all the lectures and you'll be fine

Comment:
Just try to memorize his entire section, it's pretty ridiculous what is expected of you to know, however a lot of it is common sense or basic chemistry. Example: one of the exam question this semester that everyone complained about included information that was mentioned once in passing during a lecture.

Kakkar was a great prof teaching-wise; however, the questions that appeared on the midterm from his section were all super detailed trivial questions. Be sure to know his section down to a tee because the stuff you think can't possibly be on the exam will probably show up.

Comment:
As the other two have said the midterm was very unfair. Honestly I'm shocked that he thought the questions were valid and relevant to the subject matter. Questions were trivia that he mentioned off-hand in class. It was so poorly written they ended up removing three of the questions from the midterm (they didn't count towards your grade).

Midterm questions were trivia questions. Thats it. Nothing to do with his section of the course that would help you understand CHEMISTRY. If you know everything about Titanium, you'll do good. If you know GENERAL CHEMISTRY, as the title suggests, you'll fail his section of the course.

Great prof! Very clear with material, and is obviously very passionate about his subject, which is a plus. If you don't go to his class, make sure to watch his recorded lectures (even if you do go to class watch them anyway for studying). As long as you make good notes you don't need the textbook at all, because he doesn't test uncovered material.
