HORRIBLE !!! do not take him unless you are an extremely dedicated student who is ready to put all the time and effort this class needs. the professor is a DIIIIIIICK! if you don't go to class you get 10 points off every time. He expects you to know everything somehow. I literally hated this class so much

Tends to be condescending towards students if they don't grasp a concept immediately. I definitely wouldn't recommend taking him if you are shy or nervous. I don't believe he is unkind or a bad person, just harsh. I can understand not tolerating slackers, but he seemed to get frustrated even over reasonable confusion or questions.

Great teacher. Expects a lot and occasionally condescending but just wants the best out of his students. Overall a happy and funny, old Italian man who makes class very enjoyable. Be sure to go over material before class and expect to be called on to speak Italian throughout the class.

He was an incredible professor. He was thorough, clear, patient, and willing to let students retake parts of the exam they did poorly on. The only frustrating part about the class is how few students actually bothered to learn or participate. I felt bad for him because of how disrespectful students were and how they blew him off. Appreciates effort

Italian 121 is easy, unless you really don't try at all. Italian 123 gets much more complicated, but I've noticed he is very helpful and forgiving (as in, if there's a part of the exam the majority of the class did poorly on, he allows the class a takeover for that portion of the exam, etc.) You will learn a lot with him, if that's what you want.

It may be because I truly wanted to learn Italian, but I loved this class! He can be intimidating, but he is a spectacular teacher, and will be nice to you if he sees you are trying. He simply doesn't tolerate slackers. If you want to learn Italian, take Mastri.

Very difficult teacher. He expects a lot out of you but if you make an effort and do all the work, it's not too bad. He pretty much always speaks in Italian and can be hard to follow sometimes, but he will help you if you ask. He is intimidating but it's because he expects you to be attempting to learn the language, not just taking it for gen ed.

I withdrew because he was so hard. I didn't have the time to do all the crazy work he assigned. Also, hes not very nice to girls. VERY INTIMIDATING and harsh. Will not think twice about trying to make you embarassed. I feel deep down hes a nice guy but MAN he can be mean.

If you are really interested in learning Italian, he is a great teacher! Especially once you get beyond the first year of classes, he is very helpful and a pretty easy grader when it comes to your final grade. Since Italian is his native language, his speaking it all the time really helps you learn listening skills! I love his classes

This guy was hard. I highly recomend taking a different language unless you really love Italian. He is very helpful though, at least he was for me. I ended of dropping 122 because it was just too much.

I quit going to class after a while. He fiddles with the computer on lab days more than actually teaching anything. If you're very interested in the Italian language and can stay very focused, by all means, take it. If you just need a language credit, go somewhere else.

HATED this man. Wasted 2 semesters of Italian trying to work with him as the teacher. Very very very unforgiving if you can't keep up. Quiz or test every single Friday. Very mean, wastes tons of time because he cant work computers, obviously favors girls, etc.

Teaches pretty well but can be mean because teaching a foreign language to a class whose language you barely speak can be frustrating. He is the only Italian teacher which is also a drawback both to the students and him I'm sure. I'm taking French now!
