Prof. Ballard simply needs to retire. She constantly confused not only terms, but what class she was teaching. She had no coherent teaching strategy, jumping all over time periods. If I did not already have a good grasp of the topic, I'm sure I would've done poorly. Also, she referred to 2:30 PM as "late in the day".

Comment:
Dr Ballard is an interesting and knowledgeable teacher, but she is too easily distracted - making it quite confusing for her students. She adheres closely to the syllabus, but it is sloppily put together with a number of errors - another thing confusing for her students. Those in Dr Ballard's class need to be focused because she is not - but it's worth the effort for any serious student of history. Her perspective brings a lot to the conversation.

She was a good professor but never gave any real feedback on my essays or tests. Her midterms were easy though and she always went over what ever you were not sure of in class.

Her lectures were useless, everything I learned in that class was from the textbook. She clearly knows her stuff, she just isn't good at getting her point across. The class is easy though if you do the reading

Prof. Ballard was prepared like no other professor I have ever had. She knew her stuff!!! She knew it inside out and upside down. There was no area of the course material with which she was not familar. Her comments about tests and papers were focused and to the point. She provided guidance for class work, tests and particularly for papers.

I did not enjoy this class at all, it's all lecture and although she knows her history it's as if she doesn't care to be there at all, would rather be talking to herself about it. Stutters all the time and isn't helpful Would not take her again

I'm surprised to read so many negative comments about Prof. Ballard. When I took class with her, I found her to be interesting AND interested, very helpful, friendly, convivial, and a lively lecturer. She's an easy grader whose main priority is classroom discussion. We had very few assignments other than a midterm, final and the occasional essay.

I have taken every class Prof. Ballard has offered. She is an amazing woman. Very good to her freshmen and very easy on her upperclass men. She can be a bit over board at times in lecture but that because she doesnt know what the class knows. Answer questions or ask questions which will guide her to seeing that you are beyound todays current lecture.

As I agree that the class became very tedious, I thought she was extremely intelligent, respectful, and funny. She wasnt a hard grader either. The class is mainly a discussion between her and the class regarding opinions and thoughts. She does preach. The beginning has a great vibe, then it begins to get tiring.

She never quite established what she was trying to accomplish in her lectures. She informed the class on numerous occasions that she "didn't teach", [she] preached". Keep in mind that her opinion on a topic is scripture as far as she is concerned - right or wrong?

I'd rather go through electroshock therapy than sit through another semester with professor Ballard. She uses most of her energy waking up students who have fallen asleep and is the most inarticulate professor I have ever heard.
