Dr. Bowman is a very nice woman and she knows her material. Unfortunately, her classes can be painfully boring to sit through, but thankfully, not too difficult when it comes to workload. If you can suck up the boredom, take at least this class (Fiction into film) for a pretty easy A or B. (Granted that is if you read the assigned books)

Honestly, I think this one is expired. She just doesn't seem coherent for so much of her lecture, and is so befuttled and dry, that she honestly kills some very interesting material. It sucks. I have never experienced more profound boredom than in her class.

killed the subject matter and despite being one of her best students, received a C because I had more than her allowed absences. Sorry lady, sometimes therapy is more important than your 100 level class. can be really boring, but class participation makes it bearable. i felt she graded me down out of spite.

Bowman is extremely dependable. She came through with a recommendation letter when one of the more...errr..."flighty" professors in the department did not. She also read over my personal statement and gave me reading materials for the GRE subject test. If you can write and effectively argue a claim, you will do well in any of Bowman's classes.

My dearest Babs, we argued over EVERYTHING and although she didn't necesarily respect my opinions in class she never down-graded me for not agreeing with her. And we watched films in the library and you can drink in the back in the room, or maybe that was just me. And also, her sweaters are enchanting.

The nastiest professor I have ever had. Vindictive, narrow-minded, and extremely opinionated. Play along, kiss her butt, and you might do alright. But she has a strict agenda, so be prepared to follow it. It's no wonder she's one of two professors in her department whose classes are routinely avoided and rarely ever fill to capacity.

At first I really didn't like the class, but that was more because some of the books and films we used weren't really appropriate for the class. Around the middle of the semester it got a lot better, and I enjoyed the class a lot more. She is a very fair grader with papers.

The woman is flighty and very set in her ways about interpretation of text. If you don't agree with her she has a tendency to argue with you until you agree with her, not because you really agree but because you are tired of fighting her. but if you can prove it on the exam she'll take your answer
