prof. king is very involved in her field and is intelligent and inspiring. however, she has very set guidelines for how she expects students to act and if they do not follow them she will cut points relentlessly. she just doesn't care that you know the material, if you dont have the report written a certain way she'll just fail you. ridiculous.

If you don't go to class and write down every word she says, you'll fail. Fascinating subject, but she is inflexible and too particular. King expects everyone to be on her level of knowledge and interest. Great if you're super into it, but not good for an intro class. Gave me a C- on an OPINION paper. Mult choice tests are cryptic and difficult.

Comment:
Professor King's Bio Anthropology class was usually interesting, and more often than not pretty fun, but her assignments were cryptic at best. Although she tried to be helpful, it was difficult to know what she was looking for in papers and exams. Not a bad class at all though.

Course would more correctly be called "Gendered perspectives on Evolution." Do not take if your background is in evolution--the class is intended only for people with a background in women's studies and will be difficult if that isn't your background. She isn't too opinionated if you're capable of discoursing on her level--otherwise don't bother.

she is the best professor at w&m, no question about it. anyone who says her grading is biased probably just turned in bad papers. very engaging and really encourages you to work hard and stay on top of your studies, which many other professors don't. she is intimidating because she is brilliant and honest, but she is not condescending.

Interesting class. Lots of reading and discussion. Very subjective grading. When I went to her office hours to discuss my mid-term, I got no further answers than what was written on my paper. Hard to talk to because she is so opinionated and set in what she thinks. Only take this class if you can handle disappointment on the hard work you put in.

Knows her stuff and lectures are typically interesting. Kind of scatter-brained - the notes she puts on the board are unintelligble. Good projects. Do the reading because she'll ferret you out if you don't.

Four letters: BAMF. King is extremely straight forward in her expectations and will call you out for asking dumb questions or not using the correct terms. She's pretty funny in lecture and always has a short video to tie in. She's a pretty tough grader, and the class has 3+ essays so be prepared.

King definitely knows what she's talking about and uses interesting videos to reinforce material. Every so often she'll spring a pop quiz, so make sure you go to class. The tests are straightforward if you pay attention during lectures.

While the professor is well versed on the subject, and that class is very interesting. She is stringent about policies WITHOUT exception. As a professor, A+, as a person, D-.

I think she hated our class. She used to scream at individual people and for some reason would not allow make ups on the final- which sucked because I got mono during finals. I had an A- before the final and got a C+ in the class. Interesting videos and material, but really bizarre professor. She knows her stuff though. Don't take for a GER.

Not a terribly difficult class as long as you take notes and just show up. Reading the book is not necessary to do well but makes the course a lot easier. Exams are not very difficult and don't have any surprises in them. Lectures are easy to follow most of the time. The papers assigned are a waste of time and have nothing to do with the course

She's a great lecturer and made me interested in a subject I had no interest in. However, she is condescending. Her tests are multiple choice, but its "A, B, C, A and B, or all of the above." Take this class if you like learning more than your GPA.

Incredibly knowledgeable, obviously loves her subject. Decently interesting lecturer. Biased paper-grader (she'll peg you on the first paper and give you that grade the rest of the semester...). I didn't find the tests to be *that* hard. Cool videos - not a bad class!

Had her for Bio Anthro. Pointlessly condescending, if you're emailing her or meeting with her for help, make sure to bullet broof your self-esteem bucket. Her tests are poorly worded, riddled with double negatives and confusing syntax solely intended to trip you up. If all you want is the GER, turn around and never look back.

Really well organized lectures. A little dull some times but probably one of the better teachers at W&M. Very intelligent professor who knows her subject extremely well. Would highly recommend taking any one of her classes.
