I am a terrible math student. Powers' examples and explanations helped me TREMENDOUSLY and doing the homework ensured that I would achieve an easy A. A lot of my friends have other calc teachers and got terrible grades, Barbara Powers is DEFINATELY the best Math prof for Math 110 TAKE HER!

I had a high school semester of pre-calc before taking this class and thought I would be sufficiently prepared. WRONG! YOU WILL NOT LEARN CALC from her. She makes mistakes on the board all the time and confuses everoyne by doing problems differently everytime. Get a smart partner for the worksheets and watch out for tricky test questions on tests

I HATE math especially calc. I went from being a C student to an A student. Power is such a great teacher. She bases her class around examples and assigns homework assignments. But she helps you by collected bonus throughout the semester. Fall 2006 she collected 31 points worth in bonus!

She is extremely confusing and does not want to help her students. She will send you directly to the math tutors! She gives wrong answers and you have to correct her! It's horrible...she goes very fast. Do not take!!

She wasn't bad at all. Pretty clear in her explanations but if you didn't understand her she was very willing to make sure you did. Tests and quizzes are really easy and she gives extra credit a lot.

For me any math is difficult. Power understood and gave me extra attention after class. I absolutely needed an A for my GPA and she did everything she could to help my achieve it but I had to meet her half way. Her homework is x-tra credit and her tests are set up just like her notes however attendence is mandatory.

I really liked her. She is straight forward and continues to help out students after class. As long as you do the homework assignments you'll do fine. Beyond this, she sets aside time in class to go over troublesome homework problems. Also, she has a tutor go over the problems we dont review in class.

this teacher does not TEACH you, she demonstrates that she knows the subject well, but actually teaching it to you, she lacks. Her tests rarely conform to what you learn in the book(and that has to be done on your own) and frankly she doesnt help very much.

Do not take her class. Thats all I have to say. She doesnt teach. She makes you teach yourself then during classes she just puts examples on the board and makes you answer them... which is sort of hard considering no one ever knows what they are doing because she's bad at teaching. EVERYONE IN MY CLASS IS FAILING.

She is the worst teacher I have ever had in college. Her theory of group work being the key to learning is a joke and doesn't work. She is lousy! I got an A in the course only because I had a good calculus teacher in high school. Without my high school calc, this class would have been a disaster. PLEASE don't take her!
