Comment:
Fookes is one of the most well known microscopists in the world. He really knows his material, and expects you to, too. Tests are very difficult, but fair. He hates the book, just study his powerpoints and go to class. Must write in proper English and terminology. Very intelligent, sweet British man.

No help. No book. No multiple choice. Unfair, contradictory, demeaning. Worst class I've ever taken.

Avoid him like a viral infection. Very unclear in lecture and lab, grades very tough and doesn't explain what he wants in an answer, is very rude and demeaning to students, thankfully he is retiring. Worst class by far at UCF, I'd rather retake Organic 2. He is very smart, but is contradicts everything he says in lecture and in lab.

He is really good - not easy, but good. He is retiring in December, but he really knows his stuff. He is really restricted in class, though. He doesn't explain things the way that you would want. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS!!!! He explains everything SO WELL if you just take the time to go talk to him in a one-on-one setting.

He is the best professor I have ever met. Not the easiest, but you can tell he really knows his material. He is my advisor and really wants his students to succeed. Having a professor that actually cares is amazing. Definitly write your papers as you were doing it for English he will catch everything.

Fookes is a very hard teacher but he knows how to keep you interested. My advice is to study the book more than you think you will need to. ALL of the tests are written. There is no multiple choice, no matching, no true/false. Know the material inside and out. Don't worry, there is a curve but he never says that there will be or how much.

class was really interesting and you mostly hear the guest speakers lecture. DON'T LET THE WORD 'INTRO' FOOL YOU! it's a hard class , lots of reading and studying and reviewing!!! there is always and amazing curve so you could be failing and still end up with a B.

I don't know how I got an A-. None of my grades were A's! Curve? You have to know a lot about everything to get full credit, and it's hard to know how you're doing in the class because he and Mattson take a very long time grading. The first test class average was a 60! Great way to learn about all the forensics fields though! Guest speakers galore!

He is a great teacher, and knows a lot. I recommend is that you read the chapters carefully. There are quizzes every week. He is very detailed when grading your papers. The tests and quizzes are all short reponses but must be in detail so it is important you know all the details.

Interesting class lectures, gets a bit dry sometimes if you find the material boring. He's a hard teacher for a reason, you need to be 100% sure of your knowledge when you're trying to put somebody away for the rest of their lives...If you show him you are committed and ask for help, he'll be glad to offer his assistance. Great professor!

Very interesting teacher. Don't let the other bad comments fool you. I went to half the classes, made sure I put in about 4 hours of study time before tests (Need to study notes from guest speakers & chapters) & I spent VERY little time on my paper & I made an A- in the class. If you need help on anything hes more than happy to go over it with you.

I really like this guy!! The classes are fun. We fingerprinted each other & got to extract DNA from an onion. He is readily available & will help you w/ problems. You MUST buy the book. Just go to class & you'll get a B. There's a paper. Don't expect an A

I had him for many classes. I feel he is very unfair and his grading is mostly based on how he views you as an individual. His tests are impossible and he teaches many methods that are not used anymore.

I HATED THIS CLASS! THE BOOK IS ONLY USED FOR THE EXAMS WHICH ARE VERY HARD BECAUSE THERE IS NO FORMAL REVIEW. UNFORTUNATELY FOR FORENSIC SCIENCE MAJORS WE HAVE NO CHOICE. IF THIS CLASS ISN'T REQUIRED FOR YOUR MAJOR DON'T TAKE IT!
