Barry is a great guy. I meet with him quite often and he really cares about the success of his students. Some of his other classes can require some work, but he is understanding and very easy to get extensions. If you can get him I recommend you do. He is my favorite teacher at the School by a long shot.

Comment:

The single sweetest man I have ever met. Genuinely cares about his students, and tries his best to cater to each student's interests individually. Never uses blackboard, but you still have an idea of how you're doing. There are three field trips, but they're all on weekends, so be prepared for that.

The sweetest man in the world. Had him for Advertising Commercial Production and he was the best. Supported us is all of our decisions and creations, great constructive criticism, very casual, very caring. 10/10 would take again

He's the sweetest professor ever. Always remembers your name and asks how you are. Really cares about the students and inspires you to do better. Would take him again in a heartbeat. He will find every way to criticize the films you make, but it's a fun, easy, and enjoyable class. Highly recommend.

Do your work. Actually, do your work in this class or it will significantly bring down your grade. However, he is so interesting and incredibly insightful. I truly see art in a new way. Taking his class gave me the ability to sound cool at parties if nothing else. St. John's is very lucky to have him as a professor.

Sherman is a solid professor. Only problem is that he doesn't hand back any grades during the semester, so you'll have no idea what the final grade will be. If you do little work, you can get away with it. If you tend to put in a lot of effort into classes, you will get annoyed when your grade will be equal to the lazy students who did not do much.

Barry is awesome! He remembers everyone's name and really cares about every student in his class. He asks you how you are and makes class really fun. Some of the topics are dull in aesthetics but he makes it so fun. The only bad thing is you have to do these one page papers every night for homework but it's not too bad I don't think he reads them.

Barry was great. I had his at least once each of my last three years. Like most people said, he is funny, moody, chatty but very interesting. Don't get on his bad side. He is fair and interested in everything. He said he wrote some screenplays. I still want to know which ones. And why he hates Ethan Hawke. Good dude. Take his class and do the work

Seriously he's a great teacher. And you do learn from him. I've taken 3 years of film production in high school, and I still learned new things in the intro to production class. He's hilarious, entertaining, and will look at your videos with a critical eye. Oh, and don't sit in the front of the class. You get used in lessons.

He is the man! Had him for DNY last semester, and wow! The easiest guy in the world. We only had like two homework assignments, and one of them was to bring in a family recipe. His final was what your opinion was on skyscrapers. And he gave out cookies on the final exam day. Absolutely the best professor I've ever had.
