Comment:

Dr. Winkler is one of the best professors at OU. There is a lot of reading and participation is a big part of your grade. He wants you to do well. The class consists of 3 essays, 2 of which are based on the books you read. His is very knowledgable. We even went to breakfast the last day of class. Really enjoyed this class, but effort is required.

Dr. Winkler is one of the best instructors at OU. He is very funny, caring, and expects a lot from you. Science of Vision was a very interesting class, and I learned a lot. You are graded on 3 papers and participation. He also took us to breakfast on the last day of class!

Comment:

Dr. Winkler is probably one of my favorite professors of all time. He respects each of his students as individuals and values their contributions to the class. He is very interested in promoting his students and is helping them along in their college careers and post-graduation aspirations. I would take his class again in a heartbeat.

Prof. Barry Winkler does not teach a difficult class for those who enjoy learning. He uses the personalities and interests of the students to explore the material, and will discuss his own personal stories, tell jokes, and appreciates fun every day! Never grumpy, always eager to share whatever excitement is in the room- related to the course or not

Being a non-science major, there was a lot of information in this course with which I was not familiar. However, Dr. Winkler is very helpful and funny and a great professor to have. I would STRONGLY recommend attending class as much as possible and doing all the assigned readings. The class is worth it, hard work is necessary.

Dr. Winkler is very helpful and understanding. He has no problems with you stopping him to ask questions or if you need him to slow down. Prof Winkler is funny and one day we went out and had class at a diner. You do need the texts and to attend class. There are no assignments besides the midterm essays and final exam essays. You should take HC208.

Barry is an awesome teacher. Hes fun and easygoing, however, the teaching style did not work for me. Theres no syllabus, no grading scale outlined, and a TON of info to learn. Being a science major, even I had a really hard time keeping up. Theres no other grades other than a paper, midterm, & final.

This class was amazingly rewarding. Pretty difficult, especially as a non-science major, but totally worth it. Teaching was very clear and Barry went over everything and was very clear and concise with his points.The professor's humor makes for much needed relief. Though difficult, by far one of the best classes OU has to offer. Barry is the man!

He's a really funny, good guy, but his teaching style did not work for me. It's 100% lecture based, and you have no assignments or quizzes. There is a midterm, a final, and a research paper. There is soo much material you need for the midterm and final, our class average was an 81%. Curving was a must. You should have prior knowledge of the eye.

This guy is an amazing professor and researcher/scientist. I have learned so much from him and continue to do so. He is funny and always in a good mood!!!!!!!!! He always has a positive outlook on everything. You have to take him!!! You'll learn things that you can implement on your daily life. Overall he is a amazing human being. TAKE HIM!!!!!!

Very very interesting class. Sadly I just finished today. It is very hard to find quality prof like DR. Winkler in a university setting. I'm talking about teaching, clarity, expectations and most important element is understanding what science students go through everyday. A+++++++ is not enough for this prof.

GREAT professor! He teaches a really tough subject but he really knows his stuff. He's extremely nice and explains things very clearly. His tests are very fair and not too hard. It's a tough class, and if it were being taught by someone else, I'm sure I would've gotten a MUCH lower grade.

The information about the eye seemed overwhelming at first, but throughout the course of the semester, Prof. Winkler made things very easy to understand and made sure everyone understood him. On top of all of that, he is a fun person to sit down and talk to in your spare time. I would definitely recommend any of his classes.

I really enjoyed this class. It was difficult to understand the material at first, but Barry really made the naterial relavent to th eclass and made certain thet we understood what he was explaining. He is pretty easy going. I dont even liked science, and his was my favorite class this semester.

UNORGANIZED! Do not take class unless you need to. His lectures are all over the place. Favoritism depicts your grade. Obsessed with the retina! AVOID THIS PROFESSOR! I wasted my time in his lecture and should have taken a required biology course instead. Don't repeat my mistake!
