FS with Afrasiabi is essentially easy. You get a number of papers and presentations but the subject matter is not challenging. As an advisor and teacher he is very, very helpful if needed; he is one of my favorite professors.

Show up. Write decent papers. Make eye contact during presentations. Easy A in Freshman Seminar. The clearest, and most alert professor? No. Blow off seminar? Ohhhhh yeah.

Completely unaware of what is going on at all times. Good man at heart, just poor instructor--at least for a Freshman Seminar. Unorganized and unhelpful.

Comment:
Prof A. really stressed the mathematical components in his 100 class. This made it both easy (in terms of a grade) and difficult - because I am not certain how much I learned apart from the mathematically graphs. Therefore, while I don't not recommend his class, if you don't know a lot about graphs (or calculus) you might consider another prof.

I took Afrasiabi's class for FS201, history of economic thought. Afrasiabi is very mathematical, and incorporated his own interest into the class. He is the smartest person I know, with a wealth of knowledge in mathematics and history of economic thought. The most helpful professor on campus if you visit him during office hours.

Afrasiabi is just about the most scatterbrained person i know. He makes no sense at all. He turns A/B students into C/D students. He does not clearly announce when tests/quizzes are. I have set myself back schedule wise to avoid taking him.

I always loved Fraz's classes. I thought his notes were excellent, his assignments taught you what you needed to know and when you didn't understand he was always very helpful during his office hours. He kept my attention during lectures and i just remember having fun and laughing in his classes. Very easy going.

Afrasiabi is the man. His ECON 100 class is sooo easy with minimal work. He always is smiling and looking to make a joke. Such a funny guy. I had no problem ever understanding him (he is from Iran). I can't find anything not to like! If you get a chance get the heck into his class!!

I learned a lot in his class, but he is often hard to understand. Sometimes his examples are a little crazy, but they get the job done.

Very unorganized. Teats us like junior high school kids. It is sorta amusing how he doesn't have english down completely. He once wrote a 7 on the board and called it a 5. But I really don't care for his class.
