He is such a wonderful professor. I really feel myself gravitate toward his style of teaching. Conversational, and didn't feel too much like lecturing. He is definitely one of my favorite professors, and was a huge decider in my choice to possibly triple major in philosophy.

A great teacher...if you want to learn about the "ethics" of football and beer. Unfortunately for me, I was there to hear about Bioethics.

Bioethics...boring as you can possibly imagine (unless you're a philosophy major.) Very little bio, mostly ethics. Don't bother taking notes - they're worthless - just read the chapters before the test and you'll make an A.

Ben Letson is a great teacher if you know the material prior to coming into class. He expects what any college professor expects.... his students to work. He is also great to talk to and pretty damn funny.

Comment:
Letson is a teacher of philosophy in the truest sense, valuing the exchange and evaluation of ideas over the rote memorization of names and terms. Philosophy as he presents it is not an exercise in pretension but a relevent necessity. His teaching style is tagential, genial, conversational, and he's easily one of the best teachers at Emory.

He's a great guy, but philosophy is not my thing. I didn't like doing reading and then not talking about it and having things on the tests that were never discussed.
