Oxman is a legend for a reason. He is an internationally renowned lawyer in marine law. The man exudes brilliance. Go to class and just listen to him. If you're lucky to have him in the fall he will likely invite you to a party at his condo. Go. Yes, the reading load is intense. The exam is fair and he typically gives options. Keep up and do fine.

Attend class but do not pay attention to lectures. Heavy reading load. Final exam is based solely on reading assignments. He does not address many of the concepts in class but expects you to know them for the exam. Find old outlines/commercial outlines to help you condense concepts during the final exam.

Class attendance is mandatory however the exam/final paper is not based on lectures. Heavy reading load. Do the readings and create your own notes for the final exam. It will be the difference between an average performance and a good grade.

The best prof to teach you about the UNCLOS bar none. He takes interest in students who enjoy challenging themselves and recognizes and rewards hard work. One of the most intelligent profs at U Miami Law. He does give a lot of reading and expects a lot from his classes. Always be prepared for class as he will grill you on the finer details.

Definitely Socratic, will really turn you around and make you look dumb in class. Can be entertaining. Very harsh grader though. Overall a good professor, but grades are more important than learning 1L fall semester, so if you get him you'd better hustle.

worst prof i've had in law school. the only thing i liked was standing up to this bitter bully. arrogant and condescending and unecessarily harsh in class. it's torts for crying out loud. who knew it was possible to make such easy material difficult and make such a random exam. avoid at all costs!

Intense socratic method. Oxman can see through everything you say. You will learn more in this class than any other your First Sem. Problem: everyone uses Emanuels, etc. so they get things you're not supposed to get; to compete in class, you really have to do the same--sucks. Exam is fair (but weird) and fairly graded. Participation irrelevant.

By far the hardest class you will take in law school. That being said, he is a brilliant mind to listen to. Watch the exam though, because you are repsonsible for everything.

Why would someone change their exam and put things that his students were entirely not prepared for? Is there a nice way to say someone is a jerk?

I didn't like this class. He teaches in an intimidating socratic style that is old fashioned. My gut felt that he is burned out with teaching and is bitter. Says the same thing over and over. You will learn the material though (out of fear of embarrasment), a fair exam, and for our class, old exams didnt matter.

If you like a flamboyant drama queen for a prof you'll love the OX! He's actually not bad if you have to have him at 8 am b/c he's entertaining, but if you want to speak with him one on one he's terrible, and for grading he sux. PS Enjoy the MY FAIR LADY reference.
