Does not explain well. Moves on quickly. You learn mainly from homework where you literally learn from your mistakes. Won't know your grade in the class until way later in the semester. The substitute was better at explaining. She is kind and if you have a question, she will try to answer it. Tough grader and it affects classwork and test scores.

Comment:

Is celebrating 30 years at Santa Fe and is literally the worst professor I've had yet. Doesn't know how to use canvas or the online homework site, and wont cut you any slack for her mistakes. Would assign work that we had not covered yet online accidentally and they wouldn't switch the grade back after acknowledging her mistake.

Comment:

Professor Capuano gives decent lectures, but you definitely need to show up to class and work outside of class. If you just show up, listen, and don't do anything else, you probably won't succeed - however, if you take detailed notes of every lecture, do practice problems outside of class, and ask her for help, you will be ok.

I don't understand how she is a teacher. She doesn't finish her lectures and she is not interested in teaching at all. When she gives a test be prepared to get a poor grade even if your answers are right because if she doesn't like the way you wrote it then you get it wrong.

Do yourself a favor and take somebody else.. She is a nice lady and has good intentions but her exams are to difficult and the material is not explained thoroughly. Most of the class was failing and I had to W.

She certainly is not here to make the class enjoyable. She will provide you with the information and you either get it or you don't. All you have to study for tests are your notes and textbook. Tests are very challenging; I have no idea how I was able to pull off a C. Wouldn't go out of my way to take; wouldn't go out of my way to avoid.

This teacher did a terrible job keeping my attention focused in the class, which is what I generally need in a class to pass. She would often take many points of on tests, where there were only 3, even if the answer is correct with the reasoning that you didn't follow the proper steps/setup. She did very little to help students understand material.

Beware! Very difficult class! Capuano isn't there to make calculus enjoyable. You better be ready to study a lot and not except a lot off friendly help. Use class notes to study for exams and practice tons of problems. No calculators allowed. I highly recommend using the math lab in addition to going to class.

Professor Capuano is great! She knows the material and she explains it better than anyone else. However, her class is kind of hard but not impossible. Also, she gave us several extra credit opportunities. Now, if you feel like you know the math and really want to learn take her! This class isn't for students that want an easy A tho.

Terrible teacher. I promise you that if you take her and are not naturally good at math, you will want to die. I have gotten A's in math my whole life until her Precalc class, which covered material I already kind of knew, and still could not pass her tests. Gave a quiz on Hyperbolas when she was absent the day to lecture it. Hate her.

This is probably the toughest professor for mathematics at this school, but if you invest the time you will have a great understanding of the material. Miss less than 3 classes, she will drop a exam grade for your final. Test problems are exactly the examples from the lecture. She will answer your questions, but act annoyed for the use of her time.

Capuano is a nightmare. She always seems angry. She actually slammed the door out of anger when someone went to the bathroom without asking her for her permission to go. No such thing as 100%. She will find something wrong every time, relevant to the material or not. Her mentality is clearly, "Have material to cover, not students to teach" AVOID!!!

I'm not even through with the class and I can already tell you this is the WORST math professor I've ever had. She's crazy.. she doesn't really specify what you're going through that day in class so you really just write down everything on the board. Not organized at all. Everyone is lost because she fails to inform you what you'll be going over!!

Comment:

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I had Prof. Capuano for pre-calc and calc II, got an A both times. You have to either be good at math, or willing to put in effort though, it's not a coast class. Labs reinforce the concepts currently being covered, and each test had 110 points possible with an optional extra credit question.

Very bland teaching, no communication between her and the class, but very straightforward. She gets it done. Just a few tests and some group projects completed in class. I thought this class was very easy compared to my highschool (AP) Calc class

This professor will be your nightmare. Her organizational skills are that of a 6 year old, if you take an exam, don't expect a grade back for at least two weeks. She has no concern if you are failing her class and will not give you extra credit. I had previously taken calc 2 in highschool and got A's, but this class was too much to handle.

She doesn't accept much comment nor suggestion from students. Her teaching direction is totally pointless and ambiguous. In my semester, a student just had some wonder about her question, she just suddenly turned very mad and throw the book in front of his desk, said that if you don't like my teaching method, just get out of my class.
