This professor is terrible. She really knows the material but destroyed every interest I had in learning the it. I have never had a problem with a professor before but she really gets under my skin. Trust all of the other people that say, "Do NOT take her class."

This teacher blows. Nearly impossible to get an A. All essay exams and a multitude of essays that do not benefit you and she grades upon her opinions so if you don't agree she will fail you and make you feel it's your fault. I could go into detail on how condescending and horrible this professor is, just know after 3 years of college and having to transfer and take this class due to a new requirement I learned quickly BETTY is the worst professor I've ever had. Unhelpful, rude and disrespectful to her students, unclear, unorganized. I could go on forever. AVOID!!!!!!

This class covers U.S. History 1945 and onwards. This is an era of which I am very much interested in. Dr. Bergland knows how to teach the content in a thorough manner, but assigns and treats her class like a graduate class. The workload required is virtually impossible to keep up with and attendance is required Be prepared to have panic attacks!

Comment:

Women's History with Dr. Bergland. She isn't as bad as others make her out to be. She is an outspoken, but passionate professor. To pass, don't goof off; turn in essays on time; make an attempt to learn and expand your mind, and you will be glad you took this course. I was one of few guys in this class and I'm happy I took this class! :-)

The level of work required seemed more like a 300 level class than a 200 level. She was very slow in grading papers and her comments regarding them were unhelpful. Lectures were a bit dry at times and she seemed to get lost fairly frequently.

Terrible. Don't expect papers or quizzes back for weeks. When students don't know the answers to her questions, she is condescending towards us and tells us our generation is lazy. I received good grades in her class, but it was terrible to sit through he lectures three times a week.

Absolutely insane. Assigns 6-8 chapters of reading a week. Waited until the SECOND TO LAST DAY OF CLASS and the day before the fourth paper was due to finally explain her expectations for footnotes. Refused to answer questions about footnotes beforehand. If you have a question about anything ever, prepare to get snapped at.

There is no doubt that she is passionate about her subject she is unnecessarily harsh. She treats her class as a personal platform to belittle those who disagree. She is quick to judge and help is nonexistent. If you must take her class, keep your head down and mouth shut. Expect to beg for papers back and be ready to be confused about grades.

She is very slow at getting back assignments and gives back papers 1 day before the next one is due. What she wants in a paper is not very clear. She expects a lot of analysis and everything supported. She is unclear and her lectures are powerpoints that she posts. The class gets side-tract very easy. The subject is interesting only reason I go.

Every day she reminded us how horrible we were at writing, and how we knew nothing. She would become really upset and remind us that we are in COLLEGE now, not high school so we need to write at a COLLEGE LEVEL. She is really hard to get ahold of also, she doesn't return emails and is unwilling to help with papers.
