Betty is wonderful. She's definitely more lenient with her evening class. Towards the end of the semester she had a stroke (probably because she's overly dedicated to teaching music). She might not be coming back but if she does I'd recommend taking her.

Comment:

Betty is a sweet, but very old lady. I took her night class and she was pretty generous to us. Every test was open note and in groups. You only do 2 reports and no other homework the entire semester. You don't need the book but you should study the listening examples for the tests. Unfortunately she had a stroke, so she may not return. :(

she's soo cute and super sweet! she has a passion for music and loves teaching it but it's sad how some students dont even pay attention and talk when she's talking. no scantrons needed. tests are group and singles. just study the study guide, do the reports (only 2!) and you will get an A for sure.

Honestly, her class is really boring, but the upside is that it's really easy. She's a sweet, old lady & I really enjoyed her helpfulness. You don't need to buy the book & her tests are easy. Study the study guides! There's also a group listening part of the test. You do 1 concert report & 1 composer report. This class is an easy A!

DR. VIRGOE ROCKS! very kind lady and helpful. its just make me mad when i see other students are being so disrespectful to her. we are in college people, be mature! if u dont do well on her test then she will offer xtra credit, but i doubt anybody needs it bc her exams are easy!

Dr. Virgoe is the cutest and kindest woman I have EVER met. She puts forth so much effort in teaching and it's sad that a lot of people who take her classes are disrespectful, BUT she is easy and very flexable. Take her and you won't regret it. I love Dr. Virgoe. I'm taking her for 116 right now. C-A-K-E. Group test's and Single Tests.

Dr. Virgoe is the sweetest teacher I've ever had. She takes an interest in every student. She wants you to pass. She'll let you make up tests and do extra credit. Class did get boring sometimes, but it was an easy A. Tests were in groups of 4 or 5 which made them easy. Only 2 papers due, for which she gives detailed instructions that make them easy

Awesome class. You don't need the book. CDs are helpful to have. Just listen to the songs and study the study guide for each test. She's very interested in music and has been a musician for many years. One concert report and another artist report. Easy class.

Dr. Virgoe is my favorite teacher at Cypress College. She is a genuine person with a great love for teaching and Music. She takes the time to help you understand the elements of music, melody, harmony, rhythm, form, timbre, and psychology. Very awesome, little lady. She's so adorable, she's like 5 feet tall, with blue/gray hair, she's jus tso cute. She's a great teacher too, she gives you everything you need to get an easy A. You leave with a greater understanding of music. And her tesrts are group tests, awesome!

One of the most wonderful teachers on campus! The class is soo interesting and fun! You will leave this class with a much greater appreciation for many other genres of music and art. The class is pretty easy, but you do need to put some time into learning the music. Highly recommended!
