Comment:
To be very clear, this is a tough course. However, it's an extremely rewarding course. This is the 1st courses that I've taken at Vanderbilt that has truly re-taught me how to think and solve problems, and for that, I'm grateful. Oh by the way, Bhuva seems stern but he's an extremely nice, flexible guy. Get to know him; he really wants you to learn

No one cares more about his students' success than Professor Bhuva. While this class is definitely challenging and has a reputation for being one of the most difficult classes at Vanderbilt, Bhuva has open office hours and is always happy to help his students with any questions. His lectures are both informative and entertaining.

I took this class in the Spring of 2018 and it was terrible. You basically don't know how you are doing in the class until the end.

This class is hyped up to be too hard, in reality, it's very doable if you pay attention and do the homework. He does open office hours, so if he's not teaching or doing research and then he will sit down and help you. Great guy, highly suggests going to class and engaging in class and you'll be fine. He also lets you decide when you have the tests

Great teacher and really cares for students. Very accessible outside of class. Material is a bit tough but he will try his best to help you understand it. 10/10 would take again.

This man is brilliant and cares deeply about his students. The class's difficulty is overhyped because of unprepared freshmen. Exams may be long, but not terribly hard, provided you don't panic. The class/lab gets messy/disorganized sometimes, but as long as you keep up by doing textbook problems, you'll be fine.

Very engaging lecturer. Hilarious. Acts condescending but at heart is a really nice guy. Cares about you genuinely learning the material & not just trying to attain a grade. Not the best prof if you want someone organized who explains the material clearly and easily to help you. A great prof if you enjoy learning challenging things and funny lectur

Insanely good lecturer, will challenge any student regardless of their natural ability. He is also hilarious and it is hard to NOT pay attention in his class. The HW in VLSI is EXTREMELY time consuming (easily more time than any engineering course). However, the HW and project grade should be an automatic A.

Comment:
Professor Bhuva is knowledgeable and cares about how well students learn the material. Unfortunately, those qualities are overwhelmed by a completely disorganized class. His lectures ramble and he blindly assigns homework without looking to see whether the problems are relevant or solvable. Tests are too long and they test speed over understanding.

Would say Dig. Logic is one of the hardest classes for CS majors here, with either prof. Grade was determined by wkly hmwrk (wildly inconsistent grading), three midterms (all avgs 60), and final (3 hrs long). One of those classes where the material is difficult enough by itself, but the grading makes it 10x worse (many students withdrew to retake)

50% of the HW is doable and the other is random jank that was never taught in class. Graders are harsh on HW. For multipart test questions, if you mess up part A you'll lose points for remaining parts even if it was done correctly afterwards from part A. Midterm avg were 70%, 48%, 60%. Final avg was 69%. Curve was big-85.7% gave me an A somehow.

Good lecturer, knows his subject very well. Unfortunately, graders are very inconsistent, on homework and tests. Book is terrible, and homework problems from the book are often very different from the midterms. If you pay attention though, you will learn Digital Logic, even if your grade suffers a bit.

Dr. Bhuva is an excellent lecturer. Go to lecture and take good notes if you want a good grade. The material is different (number conversions, K-maps) but he tries his best to explain it clearly. He is extremely helpful during office hours. Finally, he is a funny lecturerer with a bone-dry sense of humor.

Bhuva is really on top of digital logic. He explains things clearly and won't move on until everyone is clear. He is always willing to give more examples if you ask. Prepare for his condescension but don't be scared by his snide remarks( or jokes). He wants you to LEARN more than anything else. Hang in there after 1st exam, it'll get better.

He can be obnoxious, but I love this guy. He's got a very sarcastic sense of humor and can seem unapproachable, but if you ask for help he'll give it. Will give points back on tests if the graders made a mistake. Extremely clear lectures with hilarious one-liners thrown in. Lectures go really fast unless people ask questions.

Bhuva may be the better instructor for Digital Logics, but I recommend taking another class if possible. Our class average on the first two tests were a 51 and 52, and he waits until the very end of the year to scale. In class, he teaches well but is derogatory towards many questions. The pre-labs are awful and the TA's are useless.

Bhuva is the most condescending professor, perhaps human-being, on the planet. He is unwelcoming and any question you may have will be struck down with a sarcastic rhetorical. He does not prepare you to review the tests in any way. He is no help with clarifying the lecture, assisting with the lab, or anything pertaining to this lab.
