Definitely my favorite professor that I've had so far. Weekly quizzes were hit or miss, but as long as you participate in class discussion and read the material it shouldn't be too hard to attain a decent grade. Somewhat disorganized at times it seems, but he was very accessible in his office hours for clarification.

Desmond is the WORST professor i have ever taken at BHC, and i've been attending since 2015. He's insulting, rude and at times i went home in tears because of his remarks. DO NOT EVER take him if you have a choose otherwise!! Desmond doesnt go by the book either... You can tell he hates his job and his only working becuase he HAS to. Awful!!!!

Desmond is the WORST professor at BHC; possibly ever. He insults his students on a consistent basis, expects them to already know info. taught one day in advance, and is angry and looks down on students when they do not understand and ask a question. He actually told the class "Don't try to understand the work, just memorize it." NEVER TAKE HIM.

I only recommend taking him if you you have an interest. most of his class is graded by quizzes, which is ironic because it doesn't require you to use philosophical thinking he is not good at getting the class involved, I did about 90% of the responding, but for people who do enjoy philosophy. Fun stuff, pay attention and REREAD your homework

He seems to be an interesting person, however he always veers off topic and is very hard to understand. He gives very difficult and complicated quizzes and can be very rude sometimes.

Desmond seems like a cool person, but he wasn't very good at helping students understand the material. He was willing to make time to meet with me, but I often left even more confused. There were quizzes every Friday that felt like they were made to second guess yourself. Overall, I wouldn't take him again.

This guy is nice as a person, but as an instructor he is next to worthless. He spends half of your lecture rambling on about the "good ol' days" and the other half confusingly talking about the material. He contradicts himself a lot and it was much easier to learn the material online than sitting in class.

Ethics is not something easy to grasp or apply to real life situations but Desmond is awesome. He has a great sense of humor and explains things in a way that anyone can understand. I would definitely take him again. Quizzes every friday but otherwise the whole class is lecture and discussion. I enjoy it.

I adore this class, however, the weekly quizzes are becoming a nuisance. Overall, Professor Desmond is an amazing Philosophy teacher, but he may need to take a different approach on quizzes. They are rather difficult and worded weird.

Professor Desmond is an extremely wise man. If you are willing to check your beliefs at the door, pay attention, and read the material, then you will learn a lot. He is not the easiest professor in the world, but this is college. Grow up and learn. I highly recommend anyone interested in Philosophy to take his courses.

So removed from the younger generations, you can tell he looks down on them. Not willing to help, comes accross like your putting him out. Constantly contradicts himself. Seems to hate his job.

Since transferring to university, my studies have not been the same without Desmond. He is passionate, thought-provoking, and openly challenging which is something all philosophy professors should be. The best professor I have ever taken: there is literally no comparison. Take a class with him before he retires, you will become a better person.

I've never seen a professor with more passion for his subject than Desmond. As he struggles with his illness, he never lets it affect his teaching. He is helpful when approached, and will not hesitate to go out of his way to make sure you get the help you need.

Awful teacher, harps on the class for not being philosophers then grades us as if we're philosophers, there is no daily work so points are few and far between, its hard to Desmond has sucked the joy out of the subject, bad things happen to bad people, avoid this teacher & try to take one of the other philosophy professors he often goes on rants also
