Comment:

Harman is super awesome but one of the hardest professors I've ever had. Three 3-5 page papers and a 20-25 page term paper made me dizzy with stress. But I learned so much. Take him if you are up for a challenge!

Only two tests, mid-term and final. Both are difficult. He gives you everything you'll need for the test, unfortunately, you need to know EVERYTHING for the tests. There is a TON of terms you have to know. But is a fair teacher.

Dr. Harman is a very knowledgeable professor. The class however is so heavily reliant on the two vocab tests (64% of grade in two tests) that if you're not good at memorizing HUNDREDS of vocab words, you will not pass.

nice but TOUGH. structure of the class( 24% midterm, 36% journal that you can only make a B or an F on, and 40% final) makes it more difficult than most classes to make an A. exapmle made an A on the fist test and got full credit for the journal (a B)but will still have to bust butt to make a high A on the COMPRHENSIVE final to make an A in class

One of my favorite classes! Dr. Harman is one of the most knowledgeable and interesting professors! He presents a very objective view of religion, so no one should be offended. Grade is composed of a 10% quiz, 30% journal entries, and a midterm and final making up the rest. The two tests were short answer/matching. Not as bad as others have said.

Definitely not an easy class. You DO have to put time in to the class and study the materials. But, he is such an interesting professor because he has actually lived out and experienced the religions he teaches on. He makes the class very interesting. A lot of reading to do and the tests are very hard. Study and you'll be ok. He's such a cool guy.

Not for the faint of heart. Dr. Harman will challenge a student of nearly any caliber. I've taken three courses from him, and have thoroughly enjoyed each. I think it's his tendency to warmly encourage the entire class to engage in discussion that interested me most. Class discussion and participation is, sadly, something of a rarity these days

He's good. Hard, it requires a lot of time to study and some serious memorization, but you learn a lot. I'd recommend him over most of the religion professors. You have to do a weekly journal, but it's an easy way to bring up your grade. He takes FOREVER to grade, and is a bit harsh on grading. Overall, he's good.

I have taken several courses with Dr. Harman and I continue to be impressed by his limitless knowledge and inspired by his passion for theology. He expects the best out of his students and expresses you to struggle with the material. I would take every course with him if I could. You will learn a lot from him. Be willing to struggle with material.

I was excited to take this class. WAS. After the class started, I realized I had made a horrible mistake. The lectures are boring, the journals are a pain, and the tests are insane. He's a nice guy, but the class wasn't what I expected at all.

Nice guy! Lectures are interesting. He knows his stuff thru personal experience, so that's interesting. Test are kinda tough but he does curve grades. If you do so reading, study for test, and do the weekly journals you should make a B.

Harman is EXTREMELELY knowledgeable & teaches clearly. The stuff he teaches is interesting too. He's always willing to help. Journals: there's only one a week, and it's just a couple of pages responding to what you read or heard in class. the tests aren't SO hard but you have to study. Good teacher.

He is a very eccentric teacher. He loves what he's teaching and wants you to like it or atleast learn it. He's a good teacher and he actually teaches. He's just a little weird.
