At first, it was very difficult to understand what he wanted out of his students. He also keeps you in a state of confusion on purpose which is frustrating. But, by the end of the semester I learned to love him. He is really helpful one-on-one. He expects a lot from his students and wants them to succeed but is not always clear on what he expects.

Bill is awesome! He is definitely a tough grader, which is why a lot of people will not enjoy this class, but if you participate, show up to class and take the advice he gives you, you'll do just fine in this class.

The worst art teacher I've ever encountered. Arrogant, talks forever, and is incredibly spacey. I had him for Fundamentals of Drawing and he pretty much rambles nonsense for 3 hours, does a poor job of teaching, leaves class for long periods of time, then gets annoyed when everyone drew "incorrectly". He's very rude in a non-constructive way.

I have never been an artist or taken art, and because of that my grade suffered a lot. He used awful lingo that was confusing and vague, yet expected perfection. As a beginner taking a BEGINNERS CLASS, I thought he was an awful teacher. Though he may be very talented I suffered greatly as his student. I went from loving drawing to hating it.

Terrible teacher. I'm a good artist and it's been a past time of mine for my whole life, it's even in my blood. He disliked me and didn't even know who I was. Never offered his help or even acknowledged me. He talks forever and then leaves class while you draw. Hated the class & bitter towards him - and I love art. Sucks.

best professor I have had at USD, I came into the class not very interested in drawing and by the end of the semester he had me considering an art major, learned SO MUCH and he's so hilarious. you must put in time outside of class for your projects if you expect to do well in the class!

Prof. Kelly is fantastic. This is a great class even if you don't have previous art experience. He is not intimidating at all and is very open to your individual creativity. As long as you are willing to commit to what the assignments and exercises ask, you will get a good grade. Definately take him!

I loved this class, Kelly is the greatest. He is really a fun professor and a cool guy. I was really struggling with art (since I am artistically challenged) and he really helped me out. He made me want to take more classes in the art department.

Wonderful professor. Really helped me get passed some of my hangups in art. As long as you show improvement and consider what he his saying- you will do great, be open to the class, even if you think you have no talent- we will be surprised!
