He wasn't that helpful. Be aware when you do ask for help, he might evade your concerns, saying "that he'll be telling what to do" . The class had barely any structure . Any personal issues you might face, he might not be understanding. Avoid him.

Professor Maguire is a really easy going guy and is passionate about photography, so he knows what he's talking about. The class structure is a bit unorganized in that he makes up the dates as he goes and you won't really know your grade until the end of the semester. Overall, if you pay attention, it's an interesting class. Don't buy the book.

Class was great. Very knowledgeable guy and very funny. Try not to take it too seriously, if you are overly zealous about it you will be frustrated because it's not too organized - you won't get a study guide, he doesn't have a lecture sched, etc. Just go to class (he doesn't follow the text too closely) and pay attention & you're good!

I took him for History of Photography. He is the single most knowledgable prof. in Art Dep. He speaks from experience. That's how you learn. You need to be willing to put some of your effort too. If you're taking photog, learn from your mistakes, don't go running to him. He doesn't baby. He's an amazing prof. Gives you room to think & experiment.

He's a cool dude, although I never knew what he wanted for the papers. But he made a lot of beneficial exceptions due to it being 7 weeks. The exams were of photos on the slides shown in class. Attend the review, write down the photographer's name/title, Google the photos, and you'll be fine. I had no interest in this AT ALL but I got a B+

This Professor is on the brink of retirement. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. If he does not like you on a personal level he will take it out on your grade. Evedently, the interest on the subject he teaches is no longer exsistent due to lack of organization and a bad attitude. He will only help female students that he finds attractive. Grumpy guy.

If your looking for an education, look else where, unless you like to pull teeth. This teacher specilizes more in being "friends" with the students than being an educator. He is very slow, disorganized and carefree when it comes to planning for his classes. A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! VERY DISCOURAGING!

I had Bill for two b&w classes before switching to color. I LOVED him. He's funny & really into just getting you out there making photographs. he gets really excited when you produce something good, because photography is his life-he's amazing at it. attendance isn't a huge deal, as long as long as you're constantly producing work and he knows it.

bill is awesome. If he doesn't like you then you probably aren't too great. Sometimes it can seem like he's looking for a reason to criticize your pictures too much but that's his job. he has great insight into black and white photography and is a gem if you're looking for photography advice.

I have only taken him for this class, and if he is available for Visual Thinking II I would take him in a heart beat. Because he is really cool and laid back, he is happy with your work as long as he sees effort, progress and interest. but beware HE LOVES TO TALK =)
