Worst prof ever! I'm an avid reader and enjoyed the books, but if you disagree with his politics or views you will NOT do well in his class. He furthermore is not a kind person for if you have to miss for even school related events. Save your time take American lit with O'Rouke.

Prior to taking the class, I was dreading having McRae, but he was one of the most lenient professors I had this semester. You just read 2 novels, take the midterm over the novels, read 2 plays, take the final over the 2 plays. Our final ended up being take-home and with extra credit I received an easy A despite the fact I barely read the books.

(con't): The class is somewhat boring, but he tries his best. He isn't very clear what he wants at times, but as long as you try, he's fair. He makes his beliefs known, but it is not overwhelming. I actually enjoyed his class. He does take roll, and it helps to attend class.

The class is pretty boring. Whenever someone asks a questions or answers, he just answers with another question, so you don't really know what's the right/wrong answer. He seems really nice. The tests aren't too bad.

McRae is the worst teacher I have ever had and I have over sixty hours completed. He is rude and full of himself. He tries his best to offend everyone in the class. He goes out of his way to be a jerk. There are few assignments in his class so it is very hard to bring your grade up. I would not wish for even my worst enemy to take his class.

Mr. McRae was not a very good teacher. I have taken over 40 hours and by far the worse class I have taken. I attended every class and made the first B ever. If you make one bad grade it is hard to bring your grade back up. He thinks he knows everything and is very full of himself. If you are a Christian he will say that that offend you. Avoid him.

I would not recommend McRae. He is negative and rambles in class about subjects other than English & then expects u to pass his tests. I read all the books & studied hard & still did poorly on assignments & tests. I got a D on a paper b/c I forgot to # my pages. He clearly does not grade on content. He is also hard to talk to and compromise with.

Great personality. Loves to go against whatever you believe just for the sake of provoking extensive thought. When he assigns the two papers you write in this class - go to him during his office hours. This is not optional for most - very particular in his grading style and it is best if you ask him EXACTLY why you recieved the grade he gave you!

McRae really isn't as bad as people say he is. Yes, he is hard and intimidating, but he is also very intelligent and willing to help. He is clear about what he expects from you and passionate about Lit. However, he does like to ramble about his own personal views which can be annoying. Overall, work hard and you'll be okay.

No Tests, just homework. The final exam is the only test, but other than that It's all homework. Be sure to do it every night. He isn't as bad as people say he is. I've had teachers who are much worse. All you really have to do is write a couple of paragraphs every night. Shouldn't be too bad.

Most don't like him. I really enjoyed his class and his style of teaching. He has an opinion, don't we all. I found it very easy to know how he wants his papers and adjust to that style of writing. Test were easy as long as you show up and take notes. Very interesting discussions NOT LECTURES

Go to the class (just be sure to come in on time: he locks the door sometimes). Read/skim the assignments. Do the writing assignments. Make sure to look at more than one side of an argument in your writing, but be sure to choose a side. Do these things and you should be able to get a good grade.

McRae is not as bad as people make him sound, yes he likes to discuss wats going on in the world but thats to ensure students are informed. When in his class speak up and express your opinion he really enjoys listenin to his students. Yes he will cut u off mid thought sometimes but its not too bad. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!!!

He thinks he's God's gift to the university, so watch out for his ego. He claims to want to encourage a class discussion, but the majority of the time he's rambling about current politics, and will interrupt you mid-sentence to hi-jack your opinion. Read his stuff, write your papers and you'll be fine.

Pretty good teacher overall, you should be able to get an easy A. He really does ramble a lot about politics, which most people in Cookeville disagree with, but you should get a pretty good grade out of his class.

An okay professor overall. He did discuss his opinions rather fervently at times, but I never felt like he was forcing his opinions on me. As long as you are confident in your opinions and not too loudmouthed about them, you won't be too bad off. Writing was graded fairly in my opinion, even though I disagreed with him on most topics.

Mr. McRae is a deplorable professor who spends his time trying to indoctrinate students with his opinions rather than teach the material. It seems as if he wanted a job as a left-wing pundit and didn't get the job so he uses this class as his soapbox. Your grade is what you make on the final so no margin for error whatsoever. Avoid at all costs!!!

I had him for Brit Lit. DO NOT TAKE!!!! He is the whole antigod and is obsessed with Darwin and will argue that Darwin is not atheist. He spent 78% of the class talkin about politics. I did not learn anything. Your grade is basically what you make on final. One of the novels wasnt even british lit.

McRea goes into class on the first day expecting all students to be experts on the subject. He makes every attempt to make students feel inferior and if you ever email him with questions he will make you feel stupid. Take Laird for Shakespeare!! Avoid taking this guy at all costs. I dropped 2 weeks into it.
