Comment:

Extreme right wing. Gives study guides for quizzes and tests. I liked his quizzes. They prepare you for the test and force you to attend class and study. On the other hand he uses transparencies instead of a PPT. Assigns readings from right wing blogs. will antagonize the class into a discussion. Which made the class extremely interesting

I liked Shaw as a person, full of knowledge. Although his teaching habits are flawed. I suggest you avoid his class. I wish Grant Black was still teaching!

Shaw was one of my favorite profs. He was one of my first college profs ever and he's very opinionated. I loved listening to his lectures, he has an amazing amount of experience in his field. I highly recommend this guy.

Shaw is a Milton Friedman trained economist. A brilliant guy. Lots of students have trouble with this class because macro is a crash course in Capitalism and with the marxism that is crammed down students throats many students have problems with cognitive dissonance in this class. - My advice, forget what you think you know and listen to him.

I took his class in the evening while I was in high school. I skipped half the classes and never studied. I passed with an A-, though he threatened to have me thrown out of the course for arguing that he was a wrong on a political view that he was pushing on us in class.

I loved this class, Shaw is extremely well versed in economics, its impressive to listen to him speak. many people dislike him due to the fact that he is very biased but he is always open for debate which keeps it interesting.

lectures are /never/ on topic, he always goes off on a tangent about whatever his latest gripe is, be it the "ponzi scheme" of social security or the dangers of a reliable food supply.

He's not easy for sure, but I think he just want's us to really learn the stuff. I actually like it when he rambles on about the gov., and immigration, because I agree with him!! I wouldn't take him again though...his tests are too hard!

He tries way too hard to push his opinions on you. He hates the government and make sures you knows it and tries to get you to join him in the the gov't is evil. Also, he has a huge problem with the immigration problem that is going on and I thought a few comments that he made were way uncalled for. I would not recommend this teacher.

Shaw is a hard teacher, be prepared to study. He is however understanding of grades and will help you out if need be. Not the worst but not the greatest professor I have had, a c is a good grade to him and he tells you that first day of class.

This man can be extremely frusterating. His lectures tend to be boring & he can never stay on topic. However he does show interest in the efferts and success of the students. Overall he is a good teacher. He goes very indepth in his lectures which sometimes he goes on about a subject too much and you miss out on other things.
