Comment:
Professor Slivinsky was not very helpful when I took his Calc 1a. I've struggled with math over the years, and so I worked with a tutor throughout the semester. I left the class feeling like I had learned infinitely more from my 2 hour a week tutor than from the class. I did not do well in the class, and I'm retaking it with a different teacher.

This is the ideal course for students who are already great with pre-cal and do not need help. He just goes over a couple problems in class suggested by students and covers the board with his body. It is hard to see and keep up! Don't let his mellow attitude fool you, he grades really tuff for sum1 who barely teaches! No partial credit.

I was never good at math and taking his class made it even worse. He does not teach in class he goes over examples that you can already see done in the book. Gives homework every class and an exam every tuesday. Very monotone with no class interaction. gets problems wrong and askes the class to check if he did it right. Don't take him

Very boring with almost no interaction with the class. Seemed like very few people actually understood what he was lecturing about. Kind of crams material in before midterms. Homework is not collected so tests/quizzes are essentially worth all of your grade.

I just wanted to give recognition to one of the best professors I've had the pleasure of learning from. I took a long academic break from school and was so afraid to attempt Calculus. He made me realize my love for math which makes him a great teacher. Work hard and attend class - the A is possible if you really want it.

Not the best professor I've ever had. Homework given every class, though not collected - but is gone over during the next class, though he makes frequent mistakes thus giving you the wrong answers. Attendance not mandatory. Weekly quizzes, 2 Midterms, & a Final - answers precise, make a slight mistake, you basically get the whole question wrong.

Nice teacher. Attendance useful. Textbook used only for HW problems. 7 quizzes-6 best. 2 exams, 1 final= total class 380 points. No test corrections. No extra credit. Last class before finals he crammed in 2-3 sections of new material. No review for midterms or final. Not all quizzes are like HW. Sometimes rushes lecture to get out early.

If you do the homework, you'll pass. All his tests are very straight foward and similar to the homework he assigns. He is a very nice guy and is always willing to go over the homework. If you never took calculus before, I'm not sure if this is the class for you, but if you did, this will be a piece of cake!

Extremely easy to get an A especially if you have completed Algerbra 2 or Precal in high school. Class was insanely boring but overall its easy to get an A as long as you know your math. For those not so good at math, he is not the ideal professor, but if you are good at math his class is a breeze

I have never seen so many students fall asleep in a class before, until I had him. The book was too expensive and they did not aceept it back. He doesn't do a great job at teaching. He more or less just breezes along assuming everyone understands his logic. He was not helpful at all and I would never take a class with him again. Subject was boring.

this professor is really good.. he takes the time to go through the hw problems. i just don't like having to sit in class for an hour and 50 minutes.. it's too long! overall i wouldn't mind taking this teacher again for another math class.. if you do your homework you'll get a good grade!!! quizzes aren't so bad they come from the hw problems.

Dr. Slivinsky has a dry sense of humor and enjoys teaching. If you study along with taking good notes you will do well in the class.

I took his class because he got good review on this web site. It turned out that he did not teach any thing. He just give out the HW and if you have any question from the hw, he will explain the way that nobody can understand. I think he should not teach at CSUH, because way he performs more like a grader than a professor. Don't take his class.
