Dr. Wycislo is a great person, though I personally was not a big fan at the beginning. He brings a lot of his own opinions into lecture, which may make you love him or hate him (note: he's rather conservative). Lectures can be somewhat disorienting, so I recommend a laptop. Also, there are three 5 page papers, but they aren't graded harshly.

His class is two and a half hours long, but he gives a ten minute break halfway through. He writes Greek words on the board a lot, which was kind of confusing sometimes. I never read any of the books he assigned and got good grades on the essays because he practically reads the books to you in class. Very boring class, but it wasn't very hard.

I took Dr. W for three classes, three straight semesters. The lectures are super boring, especially for 2.5 hours but he is really passionate and knowledgeable. He is a great guy and wants to get to know you. The tests and papers are not super difficult and he is not a harsh grader. I would take Dr. W. again in the future based solely on character.

Easily the most boring professor I've ever had. Talks about absolutely nothing for the entire period. Tests are pretty difficult, but he grades fairly easily. I didn't read a single thing, and still did pretty well in the class. His lectures are terrible, and it's unclear whether attendance is mandatory. Would not recommend.

One of the worst profs I've ever had. There will be questions on the tests that were never covered anywhere. Not to mention 3 tests make up 100% of your grade I got a C in this class while I have a 3.7 GPA and had never received anything lower than a B in any class. I attended all but one class. Absolutely awful.

He was a teacher that helped understand mythology. I got a B+ in his class and did not study that much. If you take his class make sure you attend class and listen to the lectures even if they are boring at times, go to study sessions, and do the extra credit assignment toward the end of the semester. It really helped my grade from a B to a B+.

For an older guy, not too bad to look at. Tests were cake. In lecture, just make sure to take notes. He has a way of somewhat mentioning a myth and then relating it to his life just to make sure that you can understand it. it CAN get boring, but you learn a lot about life if you actually listen. Tests are VERY straight forward. Very easy class.

He didn't seem to know much about any mythos other than Greek. He got distracted enough during class that he just never got to covering some of the material that was going to be on the test. He also made sure to insult Atheists almost every class. I hardly learned anything in that class and often left feeling somewhat offended.

Dude he was awesome, sure he had his boring moments but he was still interesting most of the time. He made everything clear and during his study sessions basically outlined the test for you. Very cool teacher and always willing to further explain anything you have a question on. So if you have him have fun he's an epically awesome dude!

This class was interesting and yes, watching paint dry was more fun at times. However, he always had funny stories to tell and he made sure you knew the material prior to test. Easy class, learned a lot. I would def. take another of his classes. If you need to boost your GPA...this is the class to take!!!

Intelligent and very, very wise. The textbooks for 205 are only used for reading before a test, so maybe share one. Go to class and take notes, you'll get an A. Do the extra credit, it's definitely worth it.

Do the extra credit essay for CC205. It's worth the points. He sometimes gets off the topic of Mythology but what he says is worth listening to regardless.

This class was very enlightening but easy at the same time. I enjoyed his lectures very much. I managed to get an A while only reading one book and missing 5 or 6 classes. You learn a lot but the course load isn't bad at all.

Dr W's Classical Theatre course at Loyola in the early 1990s was one of my faves in undergrad. Definitely recommend his courses: he has a compassion for and deep interest in his students, and I found that "humane" approach refreshing after larger courses where I felt like a number! By other comments, looks like he's doing well; happy to hear it!

Dr. Wycislo is an inspirational prof. Even in a language class he expounds ridiculous amounts of knowledge and life experience and puts it in the context of the Roman authors. Probably my favorite prof so far.
