Comment:
Dr. Li is not nearly as bad as I thought he would be, per the existing reviews on this site. Yes the class is test heavy, but he clearly outlines the test and tells you what each question will be covering. The examples he gives in the test review are very similar to the actual exams. Also, do the homework!

Literally the WORST professor I have ever had. Barely speaks English. Does not explain concepts clearly and test questions are always 50x harder than all practice and example problems given out. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

He was a pretty good professor. Very clear about what he wanted for tests and was always willing to help students, in class and out. If you do the homework, attend lecture, and put a decent amount of effort in, you should be able to pass the class with an A or a B. Grade is composed of 50% exams (3 of them), 25% homework, and 25% final.

Ok if you're bad at math then don't take him. He is hard to understand at first, but once you get used to the accent it's not awful. He is a super nice guy and willing to help if you just ask. You do need to study your notes for the tests because he is picky about the work shown on tests. HE POSTS HIS TEST KEY ON HIS BLACKBOARD (FINAL!!!)

Lectured during entire class and sort of hard to understand at times. He explained things really fast and thinks that you already know the information. He also assigns problems from the book for extra practice, but it is not graded; the quizzes each week are mainly from these problems. Make sure you have a good background in the content.

Dr. Li is not as bad as people make him out to be. There is a quiz every week, but the problems are straight from the problems he assigns. there is no mandatory homework. and ASK QUESTIONS. He doesnt 100% follow the book, so do go to class for his class examples, and sometimes he does provide tips for Exams. Exams are average difficulty.

Tests dont reflect the course work. He always gets lost in his problems. He never answers questions. DO NOT TAKE!!! absolutely the worst teacher ive ever had. Quizes are straight from the homework though.

You can't go wrong with Bingtuan Li for modeling. He knows the material like the back of his hand (it is his research area), is capable of clearly expressing the ideas, and makes his expectations for homework and tests very clear. I would say that he is the best professor to take for modeling.

I thought Dr. Li was very helpful. He's not the easiest to understand, but with a small class and with how much he goes into detail, he is clear in his lessons. The sections that were difficult were only difficult because they were abstract, not because of the teaching. I've had difficulty with calculus before and Dr. Li was a great instructor.

A nice guy, but a bad teacher. All class examples are directly from the book, and all the quiz problems are directly from the homework. Then, when you get to the test.. its all from his head (so nothing matches what youve done so far.) If youre going to take this class do every single homework problem and the practice tests in the book before exams

WORST MATH TEACHER i have ever had. Don't bother going to class, he doesn't answer questions and just does examples straight out of the book. Quizzes are straight from homework, which sounds good until you get to the exam and have no idea what is on it...AVOID THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS!

He is hard to understand and very boring. He will explain the basics of the section you are on and then do an example from the book. Spends way too much time doing proofs. He will confuse himself and do something wrong, which in turn confuses the whole class. The good thing is that he pulls all test questions from homework problems.

I thought Dr. Li was a good teacher. If you do the homework problems, the quizzes and test will be so easy for you. He is also very helpful if you visit him in his office! He can be hard to understand at first, but you get used to his accent as time goes one, and he is always willing to clarify things!

EASY CLASS, BUT I ENDED UP GETTING A B. DID VERY BAD ON THE 3RD TEST. GO TO THE MATH LAB AND HAVE THEM HELP YOU LEARN THE INFO, BC CLASS IS POINTLESS. DO HMWK AND YOU WILL DO OK ON QUIZZES. TESTS ARE EASY. BAD TEACHER AND BAD BOOK.

I agree with what has been said. The tests and quizzes are not that difficult, but you have to learn everything on your own. He cannot just show you how to work a problem or answer a question in a simple way. If you take his class and miss a quiz, you CAN make it up, even though it says you cannot on the syllabus.

You won't learn much from his "I'm not going to go into details" lecture. Be prepared to teach yourself EVERYTHING (and it doesn't help that the textbook is among the worst ones I've ever seen). Fortunately, his tests are pretty easy so if you can at least self teach yourself the very basic concepts, you can get an A or MAYBE a B at the VERY worst.

Pretty much what everybody else said... he just comes to class, tells us about examples in the book, and writes the answer on the board without even going through the details (because it "takes too much time"). Very slow on grading homework too (usually 1 or 2 weeks!), so it is hard to monitor your progess. Nice person, but not the best professor.
