Comment:
Dr. Dores is a very difficult professor. The grades in this class come from 4 exams and in order to do well on them you have to study really hard. His powerpoint are content heavy and don't necessarily follow his lectures. I found to do well in his class you have to record his lectures and study them to pass the exams.

Endocrine was by far the best class I've taken. Dores is on fire when he teaches this subject and he's the most knowledgeable dude you'll ever meet. You learn a ton and have to study often, but he makes going to class interesting and exciting. I recommend this class to anyone interested in healthcare or anyone who just wants their minds blown

Comment:
Dores is in his element when he teaches Endocrinology. He has spent SO many years in the field and his experience is irrefutable. However, as a pre-PT, I was way out of my typical interests. Lectures were long and a little disorganized for me, but dang you learn a lot. As a second year, this is the hardest class I've taken, but Dores is so kind!

Comment:
Dr. Dores' class consists mainly of lectures. He explains things in very complicated ways, even if you go in for extra help. He moves quickly through the material. He can also come off as kind of condescending if you ask a question that he thinks is not intelligent.

Comment:
Does not know information well. He stated many well known facts incorrectly. Claims that the textbook, Harvard, and credited information was incorrect and what he said was actually correct, but this is not the case. Very frustrating. Also omits very important details. Talks about small details for days, ignores very important info.

Comment:
This class is based on the grades of three exams which makes it very frustrating. Dores's tests are strictly memorization and extremely obscure memorization at that, making studying extremely difficult. He goes through information too quickly which may be more the fault of the quarter system than him, but he should adjust to this. Don't recommend.

Comment:
Dores goes through the information fast in class, and none of the concepts end up being on the exams. With a class set up where the only points come from tests, this was very frustrating. The test material seemed scrounged up in a period of 20 minutes, and made so obscure it's impossible to study effectively. Wouldn't recommend.

Comment:
Dr. Dores is a good prof. He's witty and explains the processes well, but at DU 1011 is taught by two profs. He only teaches the first five weeks and Dr. Nichols teaches the last five. Dores' tests are pure memorization, not so with Nichols. With Dores the textbook is optional but Nichols takes questions from the book so the textbook is essential.

Dr. Dores has been teaching endocrinology since the War of 1812, but it's an incredible subject and he's an excellent teacher. It's great to learn from an expert There is a TON of material, and the tests are extremely difficult. You need to go to every single lecture. I thought his PowerPoints were dreadfully formatted, but the info is all there.

I don't think I can rave enough about Dr. Dores. I absolutely loved taking his endo class. I learned a lot and the course material is relevant for MCATPCAT exams. Attending class is mandatory if you want to learn the material and he hints as to what is really important to know for exams. A good amount of studying is needed for this class.

Dr. Dores is the best! If you are planning on going into any health care or biomedical research field, TAKE HIS ENDOCRINOLOGY CLASS. This is his specialty; he has over 40 years of research experience in this field. It is not easy, but that's expected. By far one of the most insightful and helpful classes I've taken at DU. Learned a lot.

The first class in the Bio sequence for science majors, not too bad but I'm going to be brutally honest and say if you didn't take AP Bio senior year and haven't had it for years, DO NOT take this class in conjunction with tackling Organic Chemistry as well. Dores is a great teacher but the sheer amount of information can be overwhelming .

Dr. Dores is the shizzle in the bio departmizzle. Cell is tough because there is so much information presented, but he presents it in a typically very clear manner and is willing to talk with you if you need help. This class would be significantly harder if he was not the teacher.

Dr. Dores is the best Biology teacher at DU. He is clear with what he expects from his students and does not try and trick you. He clearly enjoys what he does and is a really funny guy. I never feel uncomfortable approaching him and he is incredibly knowledgeable. Cell Structure is a demanding class, but you are a Biology major, so you knew this.

Dr. Dores is very good at explaining the mechanisms and processes that allow a cell to function. He explains the concepts in such a way that you fully understand the conceptual accepts of the mechanisms, so they can be applied in various scenarios. The test are tough, but he is an exceptional lecturer. Highly recommended.

Had him for cell structure and function. He is a great professor. He is clear in his lectures, and is open to questions. His tests are easy if you study notes from class and fill out the study guides. He does test you on everything he talks about in class though, so its important to take good notes during lecture.DEFINITELY recommend class with him

I had him for Endo crinology and Cell Structure. He never teaches from the book, so don't bother buying it. It's a great teacher and extremely smart. His tests are hard, but the overall material and class isn't that bad. He is thorough and easy to understand. But he WILL test you over everything he says in class, be aware.
