Despite having the formula for the moment of inertia of a sphere 3 times on the formula sheet, I was still struggling to prove if a cone pendulum with 3 springs underwater on a supersonic plane underwent simple harmonic motion. Maybe if I used the torque from breaking the sound barrier and the thermal expansion... 10/10 shiny head

Definitely passionate as well as enthusiastic about what he teaches! As long as you actually show up to class and take notes, you can do well in the class and on the tests. Homework is time consuming, but easy. Very cool presentations and explanations. A little awkward, but lovable

Bob is by far the worst professor in the engineering department and probably all of RDC. With his lectures you are going to have lots of questions, but because he is so condescending, no one will ask anything. In ENCP all of his grading is either right or wrong. He refuses to mark your code, because that would require him to actually do the marking

Comment:
He is extremely condescending when answering questions. He made me feel stupid whenever I was unsure of difficult topics . The lectures are very dry as he just speaks monotonously without engaging class. Most assignments and quizzes are graded out of 1 mark, with no partial marks. Its a completely inaccurate way of assessing knowledge

For the engineering students who do plan to drop out of both of his class, keep in mind though this will drop your transfer cred below 30, so absolutely make sure you are signed up for a spring term (summer term won't work) engineering cred course before dropping both. But talk to an engg adv at uofa to make sure by doing this you still transfer.

He isn't good, to put it nicely. He's the reason why most of the people drop out. Unapproachable, rude and extremely bad at teaching encp and physics. Extremely hard tests. Here is how to transfer to uofa without taking his class. Drop out of encp and phys 269 and just take the paf and take it at uofa. Work hard on the other courses and ace them!!

Nothing you learn in class is actually in the quizzes, also matlab quizzes are 1 question each where you can either get the whole thing right or the whole thing wrong. This course is supposed to be for students who do not know how to code, yet he expects you to be fluent in C++

Avoid taking his classes unless really gifted in that field. Tips on how to avoid taking his classes as an engineering student. Step 1: drop ENCP200 Step 2(IMPORTANT): apply for openstudies ASAP for that SPRING term (summer term won't work) , once you get approved pick an engineering credit course prefer encmp or phys Step 3: drop physics269

Definitely the worst prof in the engineering program and is the reason why most of the people drop out. ENCP: He expects you to be a programmer before even walking in. Is not approachable at all. Tests are extremely tough and open book will not help a lot. Definitely recommend dropping out of this course and take the PAF hit and rather do it at UoA

I enjoyed the class, he clearly has a passion for it, that being said, I would not recommend him as a professed. Lectures we long, with unnecessary demonstrations, he would over explain very simple things, but would not explain harder techniques used in the class. help outside of class was non existent, and he treated students like they were dumb

Gets annoyed if you ask him a question. The atmosphere in his classroom is discouraging to learning, because he is very unapproachable. In regards to the material, his notes packages are very hard to follow. It seems like he is simply making things up when he is working through the notes. Makes the course much harder than it has to be.

Avoid bob. Treats students pedantically and talks down to you for asking questions. Mistakes in his lectures are projected back onto the person who questions them. Incredibly infuriating professor.

Lectured while simultaneously expecting us to write programs. Went for help multiple times, was given textbook questions, came back to see if I had done them correctly and was told that there were no solutions and he wouldn't take the time to work through the question himself.

Here's a honest opinion about Bob. I have just graduated from the engineering program 2014, and i can say that bob is FAIR. He is by no means a bad teacher, you just have to learn to be a independent learner. If you expect him to babysit you, good luck. But if you show him you're trying and ask him "Legitimate" question, he is a great professor.

one of the worst people I have ever had to deal with.I used to love physics, but when I came to his class I hated it. He is rude arrogant and very intimidating. He can't teach, he can't explain, topping it off with ridiculously hard exams. AVOID HIM
