Awful teacher that does not understand that he is teaching a beginning 1 credit course. Extremely strict about performance and grade is determined based on your results in a tournament. Terrible teacher and coach cannot recommend.

I had him for all three classes (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). He is a GREAT coach, and mentor. I can't say enough positive things about this coach. He taught me from knowing nothing about the game to becoming an advanced player.

I love this coach! without him i would not be able to play at the level i can play at today. he is the entire reason that i love the game. I have personally watched all of the other tennis coaches at grossmont college multiple times, and he is by far the best at grossmont college!

Coach Rump is by far my favorite instructor/coach and is the best coach at Grossmont. He is more than fair, explains things clearly and is not only inspirational, but takes the time and effort to help you succeed and takes a real and genuine interest his students. Coach Rump should be your first choice! Overall Great Experience!

NOT RECOMMENDING HIM! I aced all assessments as tangible evidence proving that I earned an A+, but he gave me a lower grade for no acceptable reason. I think he's too old to be instructing because he ruined the grade I truly deserved.

My beginning class has a whopping 7 students including myself. It's no wonder everyone has dropped. He get annoyed with students that are beginners and we basically train with his aide. Warning: this class is not an easy A!

If you want take a class and expect any positive feedback or any postivity whatsoever, do not take this one. He is grumpy and rude. Singles students out constantly. We have not played any games enforcing rules just a whole bunch of beginners "practing our forehand," yet expects you to know every rule. This is the most unenjoyable class I have taken

I took beginning tennis with Petee and it was so fun I thought I would go ahead and do intermediate too but by the end of the semester in Rump's class I actually played worse then I did in the beginning. Rump takes this 1 credit class too seriously and really only pays attention to the really good players and is rather rude if you aren't as good.

Coach Rump (aka Grandpa Coach) knows what he's doing. He's coached tennis for a long time and even in a class filled with students, he wants to make sure each one gets individual attention and develops their skills. You have to teach yourself the rules on your own, but you will learn fundamentals and improve your came a ton.

Coach Rump appears to be an "old meany," but he's an instructor who really takes the sport of tennis seriously and holds his students responsible. This is not an "easy A" class. He ensures that you understand the sport and its rules. He may not be easy to like, but he is an "old school" instructor who cares about the sport and your learning it.

Rump is an old mean guy who just does not care about anyone else they know how to play tennis. He's rude and makes hurtful comments. Tennis is suppose to be fun and I basically hate the sport now. Rump sucks and I hope he gets a better attitude. I did really well on the written exam an he questioned me about it instead of tell me Good job."

Prof. Rump takes this 1 unit class too seriously, so many quizs, put downs, and he gets mad at you for not knowing how to play. I have never played tennis before and I thought this class would be a fun way to fill ES requirement, I was so wrong. Unless you have alot of perivous tennis experience and have the rules memorized DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
