I loved this guy! He made my mornings with his sarcasm and hippie personality. Great prof and really gets you to think. It's so funny when he gets mad at the stupid people who don't do homework or pay attention. He assigns short readings and about 4 essays, which isn't a lot for a comp class at all. Lets you re-write papers for a higher grade.

102 was an amazing experience. There was an outside text but it was a great read, and this coming from a typical non-reader (Third and Indiana). His discussions are amazingly deep yet again, and the stories this time around are much better. For English comp. there's no professor that can rival White. I really loved my experience with him in 102!

White is amazing. I had him for 101 and 102 and I'll give critiques seperately on both experiences. 101 involved a bit more work with stories that weren't always as interesting, but the discussions were great and he's a great lecturer. He rarely gives A's on paper for he encourages rewrites ("Rewrite it and you can only get a higher grade"). Great!

He's not the easiest teacher on campus but he is a fair grader. You get the grade u deserve. If you read all the assignments, and participate, and show him that you take the class seriously... you will get an A. The assignments he assigns are hard but you can always google them hah!

He is NOT creepy..He is the sweetest professor in the Eng.Department. He is funny, helpful, energetic, and easy-going. If you get Bs in your papers, and can put a little effort to rewrite them...then you will get a B+ or an A. I got an A. Don't expect a good grade if you aren't willing to go to class, becasuse he gives "pop-essays" in class.

As mentioned, can be weird. Do the reading and talk in class because he will call on you if he thinks you didn't do the reading and that won't help your grade. Make sure you go to class. I missed a few classes and a quiz and I got a B. Lets you rewrite papers too so if you don't have great writing skills you should take his class.

I agree he can get creepy, but he is a really nice professor. He does let you rewrite papers and is very lenient, does give pop quizzes if he sees you're not reading. Just pissed me off that I rewrote eveything and still got a B. I can say it sounds that he obsessed w. Indians lol. But I recommend him cuz he's understanding but do the reading.

Very nice guy. I failed the midterm and got all B-'s on the essays he assigns but ended up with a B. He lets you rewrite the essays, which if i had done, i couldve had a B+. Overall good professor, very fair grader, doesnt assign alot of work, and is very helpful. I'd recomend him to everyone.

i agree with the person who said he's creepy, but he's pretty cool too. no point in buying the longman's handbook though-- we never use it. class mainly focuses on readings and discussions, but it's pretty easy. he let's you (and actually encourages) rewriting essays. nice guy.

The discussions lack excitement sometimes but they definitely help you when you're writing your essays. He gives a pretty good amt of essays but he's pretty lenient. He does spring some pop in class writing assignments from time to time if he feels that no one's reading the readings. & you can rewrite your papers all semester. pretty good, huh?

first of all, i HATE english. well white is a very good professor. I really enjoyed the readings and the discussions too. He lets you have extra time after the midterm and the final (and i REALLY REALLY needed the extra time). pretty easy, i failed the midterm and i still got a B.
