Prof. Spanier is highly knowledgeable. I thought this class was by far the worst i've ever taken. Unorganized, wordy syllabus, sort of rude at times, i felt the tests were very hard and somewhat unfair considering the final was supposed to be cumulative and suddenly the day before she changed it. If you are interested read Our Bodies Ourselves!

Comment:

Bonnie is the best professor I've ever had - she is brilliant and insightful and extremely knowledgeable in her field. I highly recommend taking her feminist science classes as you will learn a tremendous amount from her. There will be a fair to heavy workload, but that is what one should expect when taking a college course.

Not too hard, would've gotten an A if she hadn't failed a well-written paper because a press release directly from a university researcher wasn't a "primary" enough source. But don't take this for a gened unless you think that feminism is synonimous with all good in the world.

if you're looking to take the class as a gen ed expecting an easy a, don't take the class. the other reviews are right on point... her syllabus is crazy, her tests are hard, and projects that take a lot of effort end up being worth very little to your grade. i wouldnt take her again

DO NOT EVER TAKE THIS CLASS! It's not a very hard class if you read all the notes (which are posted online) but the tests are confusing. Her sylabus is written in a different language! She isn't helpful at all and doesn't answer anyone's questions in class. She isn't the least bit interesting and i would never recomend this class!

honestly don't take this class,i read all the reviews.. they were right..way to hard for a 100 level class. it's not worth it.. the tests are ridiculous and the extra credit is asking too much.if you take it use her messed up syl to figure out what's on the test, use notes ppts and text.go to class and leave after attendance.

This has to be the worst professor in the history of professors... The disorganization was unreal. Not to mention, we had several syllabi (or whatever they're supposed to be called). She treats you like you know nothing and she is the biggest feminazi I've ever met. I would not recommend her eve to people who I don't like.

i didn't think this class was actually that hard, if you study for the tests and pay attention in class it isnt bad. sometimes there were questions on tests that were wat to specific, but overall if you knew what was going on you could figure it out. some assignments were a lot of work for not a lot of credit

This class was awful! Bonnie Spanier is fake and annoying. You sit in her class and she acts all bubbly and then you to her for help, she sees you're doing poorly and she just looks at you like theres nothing she can do. Her tests are based on too much information. There is no prep for tests. Do NOT take this class for a gen ed requirement.

Class is boring. I learned nothing the entire semester. Test time comes and she puts questions that she neither went over in class nor were in the assigned reading. She'll tell you the first day that prep time per student averages 3 hrs per class. Syllabus barely intelligible and hard to read

Spanier is excellent teacher and is very dedicated to her work as well as being a scholar in both biology and women's studies. She is only difficult to those her are there for easy credit for gen ed type stuff or to fulfill the undesired woman's studies to those who'd rather not. She believes no subject is to be taken lightly-especially "women's."
