Comment:
I agree that this class is challenging. But its logic, so its not going to be easy for everyone. Armendt is a really interesting guy. Yeah, hes not always the best at explaining things in lectures. But every time I had a problem with the homework, I just talked to him at office hours and he was very helpful and explained how to solve it.

Online course is comprised of discussion boards (1 starting post, followed by 2 replies), and 2 extended essay exams. By extended, I mean 12 pages as the maximum. Put in a substantial amount of effort, but he grades fairly and based on criteria. His lectures are largely off his slides, and the course is reading-intensive. Serious students do well.

Okay let me tell you about Brad Armendt - this guy doesn't know how to explain anything. He gets on tangents every two bullet points and talks for 20 minutes straight, ending these long-winded speeches by saying "not that any of this is relevant to THIS class, but I digress." Do NOT take this class - I'm serious. For my sake. Save yourself.

If you are thinking about taking a class with this professor, DO NOT. Hardly ever prepared for his own lectures. Often contradicts himself in class. NEVER understands students' questions. Assigns HW he has barely gone over himself. The material is already hard, the professor just worsens it. Weekly, LENGTHY HW, 2 Exams, 3 quizzes, 1 Final.

The biggest issue with this class is there were at least 5 major philosophers we were suppose to cover, but he spent more than half of the semester talking about his favorite guy, Popper. He kept testing us on the other philosophers, but wasn't talking about them much, if at all.

This class is by far the worst experience I have ever had in my four years at ASU. There is little to no help. The professor AND the book go over very simple examples and than give you homework assignments that are extremely difficult. When directly asking about this the professor stated: "Well, the idea is you have the tools now." Very unhelpful.

The worst experience I have had so far. Very unclear, homework is due BEFORE he goes over the material. Expects you to already know the material. Class has no prerequisites, but he said it's almost impossible to pass without already having experience in the subject. Do not take the class unless you are already very familiar with the subject.

This professor is extremely unhelpful. He teaches on what you are going to encounter in the next weeks homework while failing to go over the homework you are already doing for that week. For example, we had yet to go over informal proofs and the book was very vague. He spent the entire class period on truth tables instead! Very unreliable.

Great guy with great intentions. But he has a very soft voice so when he dims the lights, you just want to fall asleep. Easy class tho, you don't have to take notes because he puts the slides up online. Study those before every quiz/test and you will get an A. He gives easy clicker questions during class but so try not to skip too many classes.

lectures are very straight forward. He assigns a ton of reading but then talks about the reading in class so you have no need to actually do the reading. I never do it and I have a 98 percent in the class. For the tests he puts down 20 questions and asks you to answer like 9 of them so it is really easy. Just take good notes and review them befor

This teacher gives the most boring lectures I have ever had to suffer through. They're monotonous, and he goes off on tangents that are completely unrelated to the material at hand. I don't recommend him. he turned a class that could have been interesting into nap time.

This class was so boring. I'm not sure why this is a philosophy class when all we did was calculate probabilities. Armendt is very nice, but the lectures were hard to follow. I actually wished there was more homework so I could've worked through the problems myself and maybe understood what he was talking about. I didn't learn much from this class.

A lot of people don't like Armendt, but I enjoyed his class. It was very easy, I stopped reading the materials midway through and still got an A on every test with a little studying. He gives a lot of resources, an easy A if you go to class and study a little (and an A is possible with just one or the other). He's a nice guy, too.

I love this class but the professor can turn a five minute conversation into an hour long lecture. He gets side tracked a lot and is sometimes unclear on the point he is trying to make. The overall class is easy but i would try to find a different professor.

Hands down, one of the best philosophy professor at ASU. And you can tell he really enjoys teaching philosophy. If you are a serious philosophy student, you should to take at least one class with him before you leave. He's also extremely helpful, and he's genuinely interested in the intellectual development of his students.

So.Much.Reading. Not an easy A class. Requires reading and studying as well as keeping up with the material. Ended with a B but with a good work ethic you'd end with an A. He seems to get lost in his own thoughts while lecturing it can be hard to follow. go to class he may be hard to understand but its easier than the authors of the course reader.

Abnormal amount of reading is assigned and I couldn't figure out if the subject was dry or the way it was presented was dry, or maybe a it was both. Tests were very hard and I needed to withdrawl from the course when I realized I could not perform as I usually do in other courses. Unless you are extremely passionate about this subject, don't take i

His class is easy-peasy if you want to spend the entire semester reading mounds. If you get behind on the reading it is going to be difficult to do well on the tests. He seems to get lost in his own thoughts at times during lecture...But you will still have a good idea for what will be on test if you read and attend lecture.

Very knowledgeable about the subject and for the most part presents the material clearly. Assignments are reasonable. I would certainly recommend Professor Armendt to a friend.
