Comment:
I have taken many classes with Brent and with each class we have found a mutual respect for one another. He sees me for the filmmaker I am, and wants to encourage my vision. He has never goated me into making anything that I didn't want to make. He recognized me as an individual, and helped me understand my style of filmmaking! UWS is lucky!

If you are a gifted student, watch out. If he feels threatened by you, he will be petty, rude and downgrade your work. You can work ten times as hard as the person next to you and you will both get a "B." He talks about his film Madison like its the best movie ever made. Also he does not give feedback until it is too late. Do not take his classes!

Brent is a great person and teacher. I have had him for a few different types of classes, lecture and lab type, and both have been great. He has also been my advisor for 2 years and has been essential to my success and happiness here at UWS.

Funny professor. But altogether I was disappointed with this class. I didn't know what he wanted from me. I feel that maybe I would have understood what he wanted more if I had taken Comm 104 with him. He's very pretentious and wordy. He doesn't make it easy for students to comprehend what he's actually saying. But I did enjoy him as a person.

Nice teacher, but the exam I think it's a little bit tough. We have to remember lots of things on text book. Fortunately, each exam we have 10 extra pts. And most of the questions are multiple Choices.

Hands down very helpful. Has strange office hours due to the universities scheduled class times. Wants the best out of students so he pushes you hard. He is a perfectionist but explains fully his reasoning. Great teacher that UWS is very lucky to have.

Hands down, one of UWS's best. He emboddies what it means to deliver a lecture. His political biases rarely change the meaning intended for the class and his challenging of modern conventions is what critical thinking is all about. He is a difficult grader, but follow his handouts for assignments and listen to his lectures and you're gold.

Excellent professor. Teaches real college classes. He may be a tougher than some but UWS is lucky to have some real teachers. Especially if you want to learn some relevant film production skills he's pretty much the go-to guy for this town.

Derisive towards students' ideas with which he does not agree, often digresses into irrelevant political diatribes, rarely available to help students outside of class, seemingly more interested in his own filmmaking than teaching

All negativities listed here are things he will warn you about you r first day in class. He is very political but seems to like it more when you disagree with him because he knows you are thinking for yourself. Go in with an open mind and a good attitude and he will be the best professor ever.

Okay guy, unprofessional as a professor. Seems to enjoy berating students, goes on bizarre political tangeants that, while often entertaining, he is utterly unqualified to enlighten us with. Insists on holding the line on grade inflation by himself- effectively punishing people for taking his class.

Honestly.. yup.. the man brings his politics into class. Oh well. If you aren't interested in breaking down films, don't take the class. But he is ALWAYS willing to help you out and make sure everything is clear.

Brings his politics into the classroom way too much, and his temper too. Has belitted students in class if they do not meet his requirements. All in all, unless you are a hard core democrat willing to appease the man in every way, avoid like the plague.
