Helpful when grading papers, especially rough drafts because he tells you what he wants. Class can often be boring and seem useless. You can't expect to get an easy A in this class, but that's true for most English 101 classes.

He is disorganized and unhelpful. He contradicts himself and never teaches anything. I came in ready to learn, but he has failed to offer anything to my receptive mind. Hard to get a hold of. He doesn't seem to care about students at all. At all costs avoid this prof.

Ingraffia is fantastic! There is not one thing in his class that we read that I did not enjoy. There is a lot of reading involved, but it is so good, it does not feel like reading for homework. Very open and accommodating. He allowed me to turn in a paper a bit late and did not dock points for it. Warm-hearted and great guy!!

Very open to the opinions of all his students. LOVE when we disagree with him as long as we can provide textual evidence to back it up. A little tough on grading papers but with good reason as many students are not great in the grammar department. Fair evaluations with many chances to revise and resubmit. A high-quality class and prof overall.

He is very opinionated in the ideas for the essays. He grades the essays way too hard for a regular English class. You feel all over the place during the semester and he is a grammar addict.

He is good at grading beyond that he is ok. I didn't really enjoy the class because it is very opinionated but if you like that then you will like the class

You can tell he really loves his subject. Good amount of reading and writing, but that's what you should expect from English courses. Provides a lot of feedback on your papers to really help you become a better writer. Also very interesting in helping you out as you're working on your paper--go see him during his office hours!

Occasionally a little boring, but overall a solid professor. He provides a page of detailed directions with each assignment, and is anxious to help everyone who asks. He is not nearly as hard as everyone says he is, and he deeply cares that students learn.

a very nice guy but his grading is based on his feelings. A very hard grader and is very biased. When he doesn't agree with you, he will dock points from you, no matter how much support you give him.

I took Lit. Theory and Crit. with Ingraffia, and while the concept of the class was interesting, in practice it was the worst English class I have ever taken. We did not get a single grade back until the last day of the semester, and Ingraffia seemed to not prepare for this class.

He is an ok guy. Lots of class discussions so dont take the class unless you want to be arguing your beliefs. He is a hard grader, but he will help you if you go and see him. But he assigns a lot of stuff that you he never ends up checking even though he says he will. That got really annoying.

Ingraffia is a nice guy, but it seemed like our class really got put on the backburner. We got our first graded assignment back on the last day of class, so for the entire semester nobody had any idea how they were doing or what he expected.

Great Prof. He DOES give A's contrary to what another person said. He does not focus on grammar too much which can hurt your exam grade. However, the class has interesting debates and discussions. Papers are not difficult and he breaks it up pretty nice. Not too much reading every night. Great class! Take it over any other English 101 choice.
