Pretty good teacher. His class is once a week, three hours long. You'll never leave early too. Homework is a lot of reading but due on Monday so I make it a weekend deal. Take the class with a friend and you can do the hw together, lightening the load. Not a hard class and you'll actually learn alot.

Wow. class was very easy and got a decent grade but stay away if youre a male. class was all man bashing and had no clue about grades until I saw my final grade on eLion. 90% of the class was about gays and why men are ruining the world

Brian Jara is the man. Class is three hours long and that sometimes sucks, but take the class with friends if you can and its better. Either way he is so chill. This class opened up my mind and really made me think. Great teacher

Brian was a lot of fun and a great prof. Class was an easy A as long as you do th work, there are no tests/quizzes so the entire grade is participation and hw. if you do that, he's an easy grader and it's an easy class. only downfall: it's 3 hours and you won't ever get out a minute early. but nice guy, interesting, learned a lot of new things

Brian rules. If you want an easy A take his class. It's 4 credits too and it's all opinionated. No tests, no final, just a writing assignment due every week. Definitely recommend. Brian rules!

This guy is terrible. The class is incredibly easy but incredibly boring. Its the longest 3 hours of your life, listening to this man ramble about none-sense and classmates share their pointless life stories and world views.

Best Class at Penn State. Brian is such a good person, brings in guest speakers and gets the class involved. No exams, no quizzes, just papers due an assignments every week. Do them, easy grade. Material is extremely interesting. only down side is he takes attendance twice in a class.. but other than that.. this class will open your mind

One of those classes that teaches you as much about yourself as the world around you. Lots of interesting videos and reading, even some****. Never thought I'd see that in a class!

Best professor I've had at Penn State--- he actually cares to know what students think about the class throughout the semester. The information he's shown us has blown my mind. Even though the class is three hours long, I'm rarely bored with all the videos he shows. There is a lot of writing involved but Brian is an easy grader.

If you need an elective, TAKE THIS CLASS! It is one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken. It's about men/masculinity, but also a lot about gender in general, race, and sexuality. You must go to all of the classes and write an essay each week, but if you do the work and show up, you get an A. An excellent elective.

I knew right off the bat that Jara was unintelligent and rambles. He is constantly changing his mind about assignments and the activities we do in class are those that should be done in a 3rd grade class. He rambles for hours off topic. I have him 3 hours 1 night a week- it's awful. easy prof, but unbearable.

Open ended discussions and very interesting videos and topic of discussions. Easy homework assgingments and 2 short papers with a short term paper and a video project. It is by far one of my favorite class at Penn state for its easiness and interesting topics.

Really interesting class. He gets you thinking about what's going on and opens your eyes to new ideas. Reading quizzes are annoying but easy, the papers aren't hard as long as you answer all the questions, and the group projects are pretty dull. Overall, great class, I would take class with him again if I had the opportunity.

NEVER responds to e-mail (useless to even try to communicate through e-mail). Interesting class, gets you thinking. Group projects are ridiculous, attendance is taken every class, but you can tell he really cares about the students. It's interesting to have a male instructor teaching a women's studies course...

Awesome instructor, would take him again! Lots of homework, used both books, 2 papers, easy grader, no tests or final, great movies, not into posting grades consistently on system. Totally worth taking his class.
