Comment:
Open-book and open-notebook quizzes and tests, but some students still seem to fail because they didn't pay attention or take notes. Dr. Redmond is very enthusiastic and knows almost all the answers for just about any scientific topic you throw at him.

The lectures are long and boring but there can be test questions about it. Lab is amazing, it makes so much sense. Each lab you learned something new and he usually over spoke so the in class quiz became take home. Lets you use notes for the quizzes and the 3 tests. Amazing when you go for extra help during office hours. So fun, great guy

Dr. Redmond was a pretty good lab instructor for Oceanography, but he talked forever. We barely had time to get the labs done during lab hours. He's also a really loud talker. He is pretty flexible though.

Skipped most of the lectures. Really only ever went to the labs because of the quizzes/tests. Got a 4.0. The class isn't that hard, and he's really helpful.

You definitely need to GO to do well. Attendance is not mandatory but if you don't go you're screwd because the tests are all open notes and quite frankly, I found the text book useless. The labs are so much easier than the tests, they really helped my grade! I wound up with a B in the class from going to class and taking notes.Redmond's a nice guy!

Possibly the best professor I've ever had the fortune of meeting! His class (Cosmic Perspective) was very interesting, and his quizzes/tests are all open notebook! Go to class, take notes, and it should be easy for you. ^_^ I highly recommend taking one of his classes. (And read the comment below. Very true.)

He's the type of professor who understands that and intro science course is just that...an introduction. The work that he assigns is more than fair and better yet he is extremely patient and understanding. Lectures are sometimes boring, but have the potential to actually be interesting.
