Have him this year (my freshman year), originally was a psych major but he bored me to death with his lectures. His lectures go into major detail about certain things when there is only one question about it on the test. Tests are very difficult and that is basically our only grade. I am in a lecture and about 50% of students skip daily.

Dr. Abbott is a nice guy but very boring and monotone, so it's very difficult to pay attention. You definitely have to study for the tests but if you use his online study guides you should be okay.

The lectures are VERY boring. He takes attendance but it's not for a grade. Halfway through the semester more than half of the class dropped out. It's a hard class, make sure you study the notes and read the book. He speaks in monotone so that doesn't help in addition to the class being boring.

Dr. Abbott is the most knowledgeable professor I've ever had. He's also very passionate about the subject and it shows. He is very clear in his lectures and his tests. He provides a lot of additional information online that's very helpful on the tests. If you read the book, use the online info, and attend class, this class is no sweat.

Professor Abbot was a nice teacher who was extremely knowledgeable about psychology. I found many of his lectures interesting. He is a bit rehearsed and monotone, but not as bad as other comments indicate. It is an easy class if you listen and pay attention! :)

He is so monotone that it was hard to stay awake in class. He doesn't try to make class fun or interesting in any way. He shows up, reads off of his powerpoints, and leaves. I just stopped going to class because I hated having him as a teacher. He's nice, but he doesn't care about teaching or his students at all. At all costs, pick another prof.

I personnaly have to say i think he was a pretty good professor. I got an A in the class even after missing a whole week.easy 2 understand, answers questions, sense of humor, gets to the point, gives examples, but you have to do your share of the work as well which is expected, he is helpful if ur not lazy then u will do well. and i like his hat :)

Don't take this class if you're a lazy student. Yes, you actually need to read and pay attention in class to obtain a good grade. If you do that, you'll be fine. Abbot gives plenty of study supplements, such as practice tests, to prepare you. And he will help if you ask him. I would only recommend this for people who are actually interested in psyc

Nice guy and not horrible at teaching. It is pretty boring, but still worth it. If you have the choice, take this class with Gerow. If you take it with this prof, sit in the front and ignore the people who only stay in class long enough to sign the attendence sheet. If you pay attention and GO to class, it's a pretty good class.

Don't take this professor. There are other good Psych profs. He is very very knowledgable about the subject but he absolutely hates teaching... and you can tell. He sucks at it. His voice is monotone, he makes no effort to relate to his students, and hes boring.

Take as online course only if you can help it. Notes were extremely helpful, you can tell he knows his stuff, but his voice is very monotone and the subject matter is rather boring. Had to take this, had him originally as an adviser, but quickly switched because I did not feel like he cared about me.

Most useless Psych class IPFW offers. The subject is so boring that I literally couldn't tolerate going to every class. But thanks to Dr. Abbotts laid back teaching style, I passed with a B with only going to maybe 30% of his classes. If you take this class be sure to study the "Practice Tests" online! They are very helpful.
