I took the course Spring 2012 and didn't always make it to class and he goes over a lot of the concepts in class. Grade off 3 exams. The final grade if higher than 1st grade changes the grade of the first exam, which is the hardest one.

Comment:

It's the subject that's hard--not the prof. He was very straightforward and gives you everything you need to know. He pretty much takes baby steps with you so you know how to complete assignments. I am expecting a C but that's my fault for slacking. He is a very nice prof and goes out of his way to help you if you ask him for your help.

Warning: Do not take this professor! He does not teach and informs you in the syllabus that everything he goes over in class won't be on the test. This is a self-taught class so be prepared. Subject is difficult so really would have liked to actually been taught something. There are no reviews for exams. Tells you to read the book. Offers no help.

In my opinion, Dr, Islieb was very straight forward in his class; he only gave 4 exams in the class. There are no other assignments. He is what I call the blue collared accountant - meaning he has actually done real accountant work in his life. Therefore, he is very realistic about his expectations and understands students. I highly recommend him!

Very intelligent. Class is hard but if you study (which is what you are supposed to do) you will get a high grade. Afterall, this is college!!!

This professor was very difficult. The problems he worked in class are not worked the same way as the book, so it made it difficult to do the homework problems. The problems he works in class have no relavence to the problems on the exam. They are in completely different format than the exam problems.

Mr. Isleib is a good teacher. You cannot pass this class by just going. You have to read the chapters, and do all of the problems. You have to fully understand all concepts. Once you do this, his tests are easy. The first test, I only studied what we did in class and failed miserabley. The next tests I read the book and did the problems and got A+!

His tests are nothing like what he teaches and he tells you this in the syllabus. The key to pass his class is do the quizzes over an over and do the first 20 questions of each chapter. No need reading the book as it makes it more complicated. On the final he uses a lot of the same questions on other tests and just review old tests by request.

Horrible teacher!! He doesn't teach you anything. He even had the nerve to hold our grades for graduation and not reveal them until after we walked. His test are horrible and he doesn't even follow the book's way to do the problem's and that is why his test is hard. He skips steps and makes the questions with different terminology.

Mr. Isleib is a good teacher and is very helpful. Previous bad posts are from the students who did not study. The material itself is very hard, but if you study and understand the chapters in the book, the test questions are easy. The test questions are much easier than the questions in the book. If you can work them, the tests will be a cinch.

On the first 2 tests I did bad because I didnt know how to study for the tests. You study for these tests by reading the book, and working all of the problems at the end of the chapters. I took Isleib for Intmed 2 and Adv Acct. I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have a choice of any other profs. If you have a choice, choose someone else. Anyone has to be better than him. He doesn't teach and tells you from the beginning that his tests are nothing like his lectures, quizes, or homework. He's not lying either. WTF!!

I had him for several courses. If you already know the material (or can teach yourself) he is a good teacher to take because he is not particular about attendance and is straight forward about grading. Excellent for a co-op. Very personable. A little crazy. Do not ask for a letter of recommendation - he'll say he will do it but never happens
