You are definitely going to have to work for your grade in this class. His grading criteria is strict. However, if you constantly check in with him it'll be tough to get anything less than a B. 3 projects throughout the semester. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE DIFFICULTY AND LEAVE THE PROJECTS FOR LAST MINUTE. You can rework them for the final though. :)

Comment:

One of my best professors! From his projects t gave me new ideas and ways to make and do things personally. However, the projects do take time and when given time to do it in class take it because with that, you might still need to work on it at home. It's fun and you only have 3 projects.

Awsome proffeser. Really makes you think outside the box, and not only pushes you but teaches you to push yourself. Projects may seem difcult but if you put enough time into them to understand the requirements you'll be more than fine, and you have quite the amount of time for each project.

I was told he was super easy. He tells you at the beginning of the semester that itll be hard to not get an A in his class, but unless you have a large amount of money on you and can adapt to his strict grading scale, youll probably have to do a redo. Very intimidating, very challenging. Personally, I wouldnt take him again.

Bryan is a great professor, but stuck in 100 level classes. In my opinion, he's awesome but needs to have higher level classes. His projects aren't THAT difficult, it's just making sure you meet every little random criteria that's difficult. I believe his class would run a lot smoother if he were given higher level students.

Very tough professor, he doesn't give good instructions (which is bad considering you only get 3 projects a semester). He's also gone a lot of the time, usually on business trips or gets sick (he gets sick a lot). I wouldn't take his course again.

He challenges you as an artist. He gives you great feedback and expects you to work outside of class for projects, which prepares you for a future art career. Just work hard and participate in class and you'll do fine.

I had him for 2D design and loved him so much I took his 3D Design class. If you do not attend class and work during class time you WILL fall behind. Expect out of class work if you want an A in the class. Easy grader if you meet requirements. Makes you think outside the box. 3 Projects, final is easy so you can have time to study for other classes

When he assigns a project, he wants you to pay attention to the details. If you give him a sketch of what you want to do, it needs to look like it (angles, proportions). Most ppl here think they can put stuff together and if it doesn't work, it's OK cause they're artists. If so, don't take this class. I personally LOVED every second of his class!!

I absolutely loved the 3D design class. I learned a lot during and was pushed outside of my comfort zone in a way that really helped me to grow during the semester. Yes, you will be expected to pay attention and work hard. You'll do well in the class as long as you are there and put a genuine effort into your work.

Bryan is by far an amazing teacher, but don't expect him to be easy on you if you're going to mess around in class. Freshmen, this is a wake up call class. Bryan gives it to you straight in a real work design environment. Go to class, pay attention, listen to directions, this class is worth the work for those willing to become better designers.

Cantley is a love-hate person. Personally? I love him. If you are passionate about art and you ask questions, he's there for you. He challenges you to add a narrative to your pieces, push you, and make you think. He's really lenient on attendance, because he's a busy person &understands you are too, he does care. His new curriculum rules. Fun class

It's certainly not an easy class. After two bad project grades, I thought I would fail. But I kept at it, showed up even when we didn't have to, and asked questions. I ended up with a B+. He's not the clearest, so I strongly suggest you ask questions when you have them. If you show that you're trying to understand and pass, he's willing to help.

Bryan is an amazing professor. This was his first semester with his adjusted syllabus. There are 3 projects. He gives amazing feed back and I really enjoy his sense of humor. I don't know how his previous class was but I LOVED this one. I would definitely recommend him to anyone :)

Don't be a crybaby, show up to class on time, and ASK QUESTIONS. If you don't this class will be harder than it needs to be. I thought Bryan was an awesome teacher and it's a shame he has to lighten up the coursework. Challenge yourself when you can because the challenges will strengthen your work ethic and your general skill as a designer.
