Really nice, funny, smart guy. His instruction methods are really easy to understand. Super understanding, if you're having a tough time he will give you some help and is willing to give you a second chance on homework if you don't turn it in. He covers everything that will be on the tests thoroughly in class so make sure to attend.

I took his course for Principles of Psychology and it was easy to get an A. Yes, the test material is somewhat challenging but he curves almost every exam and offers tons of extra credit. Exams consist of textbook material and lecture material, so it's important to read the chapters and take good notes in class. I have no psychology background.

Understanding, helpful, and all around amazing professor. Despite struggling, I really enjoyed his class. Be ready for hard tests/lots of quizzes. Likes to tell stories relevant to the material to make it easier to remember.

Comment:
Dr. Neighbors is a hard instructor but great guy. His tests are killer. They are half class notes and half questions from the book. Most questions from the book have not been reviewed in class, which I found challenging. He gives daily reading quizzes. I would only take this class if you are going to be able to give it a great amount of effort.

I had Dr. Neighbors for Forensic Psychology in May Term. It was different than I expected, and definitely tough for a summer class, but one of my favorite classes at SU. He's incredibly intelligent, interesting, and helpful. His tough tests are great preparation for other courses and I'm a much better student for having him as a professor.

the tests are the worst part of the class, because even if u read all the chapters, take all the notes, u still will get a b at best. the "curve" is a few points, maybe. he is a funny nice guy, but it doesnt make up for ridiculously hard tests.

Comment:
Take Principles of Psych with Neighbors. Yes, his tests are difficult, but he is a fair grader and always gives some sort of "correction" to the grade (i.e. a curve). He really knows his stuff, and is interesting to listen to. Really helpful and knowledgeable. Also, he can be funny too!

I've had Dr. Neighbors in a lot of classes. He's a good professor, with some cool stories from his clinical background. Some of his classes can be a little boring at times, but just because of the subject. (No one could make Psych Testing thrilling!) Helpful, cares about students. Exams can be tricky, but he usually curves very fairly.
