I loved this course! Going into it I thought it was going to be another impossible Stats class. Dr. Banis make it interesting and he KNOWS what he's talking about! Go to class to take the quizzes and study previous exams. He tells you what's on the exam the day before!! Very helpful, wish all my professors taught like him!! NO textbook needed!

I'd say Banis is the one to take. You can pretty much blow off this course and cram for the exams and get an A. It's not a walk in the park, but it's not difficult. I recommend taking him. Make sure you have a "study group" for the in-class quizes. That can be the difference of a letter grade.

Good instructor. All of the quiz and test questions came from Bud̢۪s lectures and handouts. We did not use the book. Recorded versions of his lectures are available through his web site for viewing anytime. Study the past exam examples he has online. Pay attention. Take good notes. Enjoy his humor.

Some of the ratings on this guy are completely off the mark. I'm finishing my 2nd B.S., had many professors, good & bad. Banis is definitely one of the good ones, great sense of humor too! He uses real world examples rather than dry text book ones. Save some $, forgo the book. Attend class, use his website, study the quizzes and you will do well.

BORINGGGGGG class, just use the study guide for the tests, answer the questions then copy and shrink it for your study guide. Only attend the classes for the quizzes, ours was always on Monday.

Dr. Banis is a good professor with an impressive career. One can learn a lot from him by doing the following: 1. Go to class (this way you won't miss any quizzes.) 2. Know his materials on the open web inside and out. 3. Find or create a reliable study group. By doing the following, the class should be no problem.

Bud Banis is the best teacher at UMSL. I've taken him for both Business Stats and Operations Management. He tests on lectures and notes. Take good notes, and come to every class, other than that its a piece of cake. The book is good to have in Business Stats but not necessary.

Bud's better the second time! I took his class the first time and should have dropped after the first exam. I stuck with it, got an F, and when it came time to re-take this course, I signed up for the only available section, Bud's. I got all of the points outside the tests, and beat the average on both. Keep the quizzes and review the ex-exams

Took class over the internet. Never attended just went over the recordings to do the homework (hmk takes at least 3 hours an assn...but really cushions the grades!) The MC tests are kind of tough. You get a page of notes. The computer part of the tests are easy (if you did the hmk.) He lets you use your K drive...This man is also a hoot!

Seems like a nice guy, but hard to relate what he does in class (mostly Excel) with the exams. I did learn a little about Excel. I got whacked because I had Bud for half the course, then Nauss for the second. They are 180 degrees in temperament & method, but equally confusing.

"Bud" is a seemingly nice guy who makes the class "interesting" with his strange comments/insights into the world. Pay attention, don't skip and hope that he has mercy on you when it comes time for your final grade.

Is a challenging professor. pretty much if you come to class, do the quizzes and projects you can easily get an A. Get to have cheat sheet for tests so not all that bad. could explain what the different things are a little better tho

Bud is actually very nice. Some of the comments below are a little too harsh. I took his class last semester and got an A. I took the quizes, and used those to study for his exams. He also lets you use one page of notes. My only complain would be the # of exams. There is 1 during the semester & 1 at the end. Its hard to remember things after 3 mo.s

This guy is a horrible teacher. His methods and material is completely bogus crap that he made up out of no where. Avoid this guy like the plague. If you must take him, come to class everyday and get a perfect score on the quizzes/projects. His tests are very hard since the material is so off the wall.

Bud Banis is a nice guy, but he is completely insane. He comes up with theorys that aren't even covered in the book so don't buy it. His exams are basically the quiz questions (which are group quizes) and you get a page of notes for the test, so just put the quiz questions + answers on it. Figure out how Bud's system works and you'll do fine.

He acts like you should just know the material w/o instruction. He was ok to talk to, but I never felt comfortable with the material, and he couldn't help me.
