Burl is an awesome Professor. I know a lot of people didn't like him because of his style of teaching. Get used to it! Every teacher teaches different just like every student learns different. Go to class. Read the books. Read his notes. He will try to stump you, but it's his way of challenging the class (not many teachers do that).

Comment:
Not a great professor. All he does is glance over power point slides that over 100 slides long and posts them only a few days before the exam. Expects you to learn many of the presentations that are extremely specific. The final is on material that he is too lazy to put into a power point and is virtually impossible to take notes on.

Great teacher. Don't be just a student to him, be a friend. He will help you out with internships as well. Has been in the business for a LONG time. Has good connections you could utilize. Show an effort that you really want to be there and he will recognize your work. If you want to throw the class off, ask him about a (personal) work experience.

Terrible teacher. Acts like he knows his stuff, but is easily flustered when you call him out on something. Borderline senile and should retire already.

If you're a con major, you're bound to have him. Old tests are key! Get old tests and you could prob. get a C or B on the test guaranteed. He takes interests in you such as internships and things. Most of his classes follow the same format.

All of Burl's classes take work and effort. Studying does help and so do old tests. You can not just skate by. Watch the Burl BS as well. What can I say Burl is just Burl.

He is a great guy and has over 45 years of experience in the field of construction. His classes are easy but his tests are quite thorough and very difficult if you don't study as much as you can. If you take is class study as much as humanly possible.

He's an alright guy but talks and goes through notes a little fast. His tests are fricking impossible unless u've memorized everything in the notes and in the book. He picks out the smallest details to test on. OK to talk to and tries to get student feedback on his test (not sure if he uses though)

I don't know how you can **** so much on numerically based tests, but if you can, you'll do alright in Con 342. For other classes (like Con 270) you basically have to get old copies of tests (he usually doesn't change them much.) Prepare for several semesters with this guy.

where do i start, can be a prick, has experience, but can't teach worth a s#@t, would rather put a gun in my mouth and pull the trigger then sit through another Burl class, fun to talk to or joke with but his tests suck and his notes you have to use are even worse straight from the 80's fullofcrap

Finally done after 9 classes with Burl! If you cherish your GPA & want to have a good exp. at Bradley, get another major. This prof was brutal and shouldnt even be teaching. He loves making you an avg student no matter how hard you work. Unless you kiss butt, A's & B's will be a thing of the past.

He's tough on grading, especially on drawings, but if you are careful, he will give you most of the points. Also he is willing to give day extensions if you're almost but not quite done. He also has interesting stories about construction.
