He gives study guides for the exams so as long as you're solid on that info, you'll do well on the exams. No real surprises. There's no homework so you need to do well on those exams.

His classes involve a lot of busy work. You can pass without showing up, but he does take attendance. Read the book, make study guides, and be prepared for the tests/quizzes. He's always available in his office so take advantage if you need help. It's not an easy A, but as long as you work hard and really try you should expect an A.

Comment:

Thompson is a nice guy but VERY monotone. His class was an hour and 20 minutes and felt like 4 hours. His course is not hard if you are willing to do the work which requires reading your textbook so its required to have the book. Thompson doesn't get around to teaching all the material on the tests so extra work on your own is vital. Its Bearable.

He is a very good professor if you just listen to him. People say is so hard and he's so tough, but he gives you the study guides that literally have the only questions on the test so if you know those then you'll do great. Also, each test covers 3 chapters so there's not many tests but each test has a considerable amount of information.

At the beginning of the semester, I thought I was going to have to drop because his teaching method is so dry and unclear, but I warmed up to him. You just have to get used to his style. The thing is that you're going to learn more from your textbook than you will EVER learn from class. I suggest sitting near the front if you want to stay awake.

This class is mandatory to graduate and is research methods. The tests were based on the readings in the textbook. He would not go over the material and more times than not did not know what he was talking about. He was very hard to get ahold of to get help and would not clarify things making it that much harder to perform well in this class.

Thompson is really nice and loves what he teaches. Classes are very interactive and there is almost always a quiz about the assigned reading. There is also a group project to be done over the course of the semester, but he's very flexible about deadlines and willing to help.

Good guy, boring lectures. His tests are very specific but he offers study guides for every test. If you want a chance at passing you need to really read and study the book. If you need extra help, his door is always open. Don't email him because he rarely responds.

Comment:

Good professor - he tries to keep classes as simple as possible, and really caters to the student's needs. He's nice and funny as well. Lectures can be boring, but he does a lot of hands on presentations, which kept it moving and helped to engrain the material in our minds. One of the better psych professors - I would recommend him!

Professor Thompson is a really nice guy. If you like a lot of reading and tests then you'll like him. But 80 percent of our total grade is tests. We don't write any papers, and you have to go to class to do well on the tests.

Nice guy, but i found him very boring, lectures did not interest me at all and the tests were jam packed with info, didn't study as much as i should which could be why i struggled on tests, but be prepared to bury your head in the books, personally i was bored to death and would not recommend taking this course unless you have an interest in psych.

I love his teaching styles. however, his exams (major part of your grade) are difficult. he is willing to help anyone out though! if you are not so good at taking tests, you may want to think about a different prof. compared to some other psych teachers, he is at the top however for the best teacher.

Very good prof. Kept classes interesting by changing up teaching style. Lectures and note taking were broken up by videos and a few class and group activities. Don't really know if I think I know the material very well. Still, gives extra credit, which really helps to boost your grade. I would reccomend this prof to anyone concidering psy101

Dr thompson is the man he makes every 1 laugh but his tests r kinda hard
