Comment:
This course was definitely more demanding than I expected it to be, especially as a 1xxx level course. He's a fun lecturer and person, but is a HARD grader. I would recommend taking his classes pass/fail so that you can enjoy them, but your GPA doesn't have to suffer as a result.

Comment:
Probably the most demanding course I have ever taken with an unreasonable grading scale; Waters believes it should be difficult to get a C, so don't expect an A, even after pouring your heart & soul into this course.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR. Waters expects WAY too much for the number of credits this course is. I feel like I'm in middle school with all of the mandatory attendance, meaningless daily assignments that can easily take 8 hours a night. His constant errors and mistakes are also a source of frustration. If he is teaching your course, RUN!

Dr Waters is a great lecturer and leads interesting discussions in class, but he expects WAY too much work for only 3 credits. I spent more hours outside of this class doing assignments than any other and still received a C. If you are taking more that one other class or have any major responsibilities (like a job) don't expect to do well.

He's an ok prof BUT, if you have a life (job, kids, classes, anything) you'll have to put it on hold. Not only were the guidelines extremely vague, we had four assignments due within 2 days. Assignments due each Monday. Expected to read 2-3 chapters of "Origin" by Darwin twice in 1 week. Not clear about requirements, not an easy grader. Bad combo.

Dr. Waters is a great professor. His lectures are clear, interesting, and easy to follow. He has very high expectations so expect to work hard in his class, but expect to learn a lot too, and to broaden your mental horizons! I enjoyed his class and would recommend him to anyone.

This course is great. I actually wish there was more time to learn additional information. Waters however was a pretty average teacher. There were things like mandatory attendance, and reading summaries due every day that made the class feel like I was back in high school.

Waters is a great lecturer. He knows how to balance student questions with lecture progress, and took the time to review what people didn't understand. The papers were reasonable and the tests fairly easy. Reading summaries were tough to keep up with, BUT, it was great to be in a classroom where everyone had done the readings.

Flashback to high school with mandatory attendance and pointless daily summaries of readings. Not a hard class but frustrating. The professor doesn't understand a lot of the science or the scientific processes he is criticizing in the class. Apparently theories are actually facts to all scientists, hmmm, I have my own theory on that idea.

be prepared to be there every single day and then some. he requires hours of extra lecture time outside of class time. Very pretentious. Doesnt have time for anyone who doesn't share the same amount of love for philosophy and science. Science background helps astronomically. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND.

Waters is a good speaker. He chooses his words carefully and is always very precise in his language. In this sense, he is able to delicately explain difficult concepts. However, he tries too hard to be funny, pretends too much to be neutral, and thinks too highly of himself, his class, and his discipline. Not a bad professor, but not great.

the class, with the constant readings to print off of the internet and 5-6 pages of comprehensive notes a night, was insane, but professor waters made it worth the effort. i worked my *** off for every grade, but ended up totally inspired by his class. professor waters seriously cares about teaching, and his enthusiasm is infectious.

Very interesting and amusing prof. In the course I took, we had no textbooks. Our readings were done online, which was thoughtful because books can be so expensive. He is truly passionate about his work and is open about his life, yet remains completely mutual during class debates. Very inciteful and pleasant.

Makes learning easy, clearly articulates all points, great to talk to one on one. In class will argue both sides to any argument just to get people thinking. Story's are funny and help to articulate his point. Excellent teacher all around.

A very articulate speaker, Waters has a tone of voice that is literally impossible to misunderstand. Makes his points with the clarity of a lawyer, youd have to be very unengaged to not understand what he's lecturing on. Some of the topics in this class can get repetitive, but the workload (2 papers and two moderately hard tests) is pretty easy
