She's very boring to listen to I usually just zone out. She's pretty fair with papers and does not give too many and she's let you revise them for a better grade. Some of her lectures are interesting but she talks really slow and in a monotone voice. Workload is not bad though. Will also let you hand in papers late

She does have favorites, but it is based on ability and effort-not people who try to be teacher's pet. She's a tough grader, yet allows revisions. Therefore, if you are willing to put in the effort you can both improve your writing, and get a good grade (AB). She is very understanding, and helpful. She knows who is, and isn't putting forth effort.

She is VERY tough, but an excellent professor. She gives chances for revisions on everything and she will make time to help you if you put forth the effort. If you're looking to significantly improve your writing skills, take her class. Wouldn't take her class again, but glad I did. Worth the hard work.

Please, oh please, save yourself and do not keep a class with McCombs. She plays favorites, but only putting about 2 students per 25 student class as favorites. These two students get a B or above. Everyone else will get a C or below. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Dr. McCombs is a very difficult with her FYS class. She is a strict grader, but also knowledgeable and nice. I would recommend taking a different FYS teacher if possible.

For an FYS class, she is very hard. Although she is very well informed with her field of study, she is a strict grader and too tough compared to other FYS classes. Take other professors if you can.

She's nice and let's you do revisions on your papers, but everyone usually ends up getting Cs or Ds the first try.... It's A LOT of work for an FYS course. Most courses are easy As but this one you have to work your ass off and you don't even know what the heck she's talking about sometimes! AVOID IF POSSIBLE. Brought down my very high GPA.

If you are not a good writer, and don't really want to improve, try to avoid her. But, if you DO want to improve, she is the way to go. She will provide you with the tools you need for college and life-long writing.

She is a very nice woman who is always willing to help and answer your questions. She is soft spoken woman but from the moment she starts speaking you know that she is extremely well studied in her area of expertise. Her class is not the easiest but she always allows you to re-do papers for better grades as many time as you want.

Take notes! tough class, kinda interesting not terrible. Very very nice lady, she speaks in almost a whisper so you have to really listen. Attendence is crucial. Shes very understanding, even gives second chaces if you have a valid excuse, drops lowest grade. Prepares you fairly well for tests. If you put in a decent amount of effort you'll do grea

Professor Mc.Combs is a very nice teacher. She is always willing to help her student's. She allows second chances on tests and tends to drop a couple of low quiz grades. Certain tests are open notebook and she is understandable. However, she is a little quiet so pay attention and you will go far as a student. You will enjoy her.

I started the first immediately, worked on it almost every day with stringent efforts, handed it in on original due date (was delayed). My roommate did it in an hour the night before. I got a C- he got an A+! I even went for help during it and did exactly as explained! Effort is the inverse of your grade.

She seriously goes out of her way to make you pass and goes out of her way to help you..all you have to do is ask!!!!!!!!
