Comment:

Defiantly an acquired taste in professors, but that is what makes him great. He's fun to work with, and is straight to the point of what he wants from his students. Overall, I have fun in his class.

I'm not an English person, and so naturally I just did not enjoy this class. Carl is somewhat funny, but also kinda weird. He will call you out in class which is annoying. The feedback he gives you can be helpful depending on how you use it. If you don't take his advice on what you should fix in your paper, you will get downgraded. Boring class.

You have to write a paper a week on the movies watched for class. Critical analysis papers were confusing. Carl is a very unclear grader whose lectures were useless, but he can be helpful if you go directly to him.

Class was extremely boring. He gives you the lecture slides and expects you to print them out but simply stands up there and reads right off the slides for the lecture. Also, his writing style is rather confusing. I've used his constructive criticism to write my papers and got downgraded for doing so. Papers were confusing, but tests were easy.

Throughout the semester as long as you participate you will do fine in the class. His lectures can be very boring unless you actually pay attention. His test are hard if you pay attention and take notes on all the clicker questions because they are all on his tests.

I've taken a Film, Literature, and a Screenwriting class with him. Be prepared for weekly small papers. Not a tough grader at all. Be open minded and try to enjoy his wacky personality, and you should be fine. He really appreciates class participation, so don't be afraid to speak up even if it's a bit awkward. Simple lectures, but worth it.

Treats everyone as if they are in middle school. Lectured extensively on the structure of fiction (introduced in 4th grade) and how to write a paper (middle school). He does not know how to run a discussion or what qualifies as a discussion question. Comes off as highly condescending of divergent opinions. Pointless, learned nothing.

Carl will tell you flat out what he wants you to put in a paper, then down grade you for including everything he told you to write. He thinks he is funny but he makes class feel more like you're back in high school. Attendance is required and too few missed days will lead to failure, so no matter how much he makes you want to skip you can't

Carl's class was pretty much useless. I learned nothing, went in for help multiple times for each paper, and got unclear answers. He destroys your first drafts and makes you write a completely different paper the using the ideas he like and then grades very rough. Grades 40% on class and group participation but doesn't give you what you deserve.

I REALLY like to take his class, even though he has a few difficult essay assignments. You HAVE TO make an appointment with him because it really helps you get EASY A on an essay. Also, he is really helpful because you can learn his meal plan! I learned this meal plan about 10 times during his class, but it is extremely helpful!!

Great professor! He's older and kind of goofy but he makes the class interesting. He really likes participation. He's very helpful and makes himself available if needed. His exams are essays but he lets you prepare ahead of time and use the book. I would def reccomend this teacher and this class.

Oh Battaglia, he...he is somethin. Very eccentric with goofy manerisms. Can make you laugh. Class could be long and boring tho. If try hard youll get a B, no matter the time and effort put in your paper. But thats really all english classes. Seriously what merits an A for papers. Atleast you get to write on movies tho. not bad if u need the credit
