Comment:

He knew what he was talking about and shows you that he actually has the skills. His feedback was odd though. He'd ask questions to get you thinking about how well you're doing the skills, then walk off. He doesn't really give much other feedback. I'm decent at art, so it wasn't too hard, and the homework is once a week. Not bad.

Great instructor who inspired, encouraged and motivated students to learn, aquire, enhance and create. I learnt techniques that developed my artistic abilities beyond anything I had previously Imagine I could do. Loved this class so much. 6 hours each week passed so quickly.

Comment:

Carl Purcell is one of the best art teachers I have ever had. I learned so much from him, and although the class was a little harder I seriously enjoyed every minute of it. Take his class if you want to REALLY learn how to draw.

Comment:

I audited this class in 1992 without taking the beg. class, so I was pretty much lost. He is an artist who teaches, but if there is a problem, he has a hard time pinning it down. He has models with bathing suits, but I guess if I wanted to take drawing in Utah, that's what I'd get. Funny to ask him about where the nipple goes. He couldn't say!

Wow. Unbelievably good teacher. VERY funny, too. Showed me how to turn my "anemic" watercolors into vibrant, half-decent work. I wish I were as good as him. He can teach you so much. Don't be lazy, though. What's with the suit coat and jeans outfits, though?

Fabulous art teacher. He has unbelievable talent. I came in thinking I knew a lot and left realizing I didn't. He can teach even the most left-brained people to draw. I'd love to learn from him all the time if I could afford it.
