I am currently taking his A&P 1 class and majority of the class is failing. Although he drops your lowest test, it doesn't matter because the tests are so hard from the get go. He doesn't test you on what he lectures and he expects you to know everything. Forget about asking questions in his class because he will make you feel so dumb for asking.

I took Dr. Wellstead's Anatomy, Embryology and Evolution classes while enrolled at WVUIT. Everyone puts Carl down but he is actually a very good teacher. What people don't realize is that the Anatomy classes are intended for Nursing majors, it seems to me that a Nurse should have a comprehensive knowledge of Anatomy and if the teacher pushes them

LITTLE MAN SYNDROME!! the guy has no personality and will make you feel like crap if you ask a question. Do not take this professor if you want a passing because he could care less what you achieve.

He really makes you work. That is a good thing. I took this class in the mid 90's and it was a struggle, as I look back I am thankful he pushed the class, because I remember so much from his teachings.

Yes the course is hard, particularly if you come to college after the crappy high school education you get in West Virginia. He's wonderfully helpful, if only you ask. He's clear in his lecture and in the stuff you need to pas the test.

Sometimes goes over the top. His drawings cracked me up. Very difficult essay tests. He wants extremely precise answers. Tries to be helpful with explanations, but can have trouble coming down to a student's level.

He is not a bad teacher. He just puts things on tests that you would look over. There is no way to prepare for this class bc i had a great h.s. anatomy teacher and was not prepared at all. Be prepared to study hard and memorize the detail if you are going to take him.

He is the worst teacher on Tech campus, and the school wonders why students leaving Tech right and left. It isn't that students are unprepared in dealing with "true college level" classes. The fact is that even the best students require some level of encouragement.

Dr. Wellstead works very hard trying to teach my fellow students. However, fully half of Tech's freshmen require remedial courses to make-up for poor high school preparation. It is no wonder they have trouble with a true college-level course.
