Dr. Lucente is really the most inspiring and best teacher I've ever had, especially at Duquesne. If you are able to take a course with her, do it. You will learn more than you expect in an extremely informal setting. She will correct you if you're wrong but it only helps.

Dr. Lucente is really inspirational. Her pursuit of knolwedge is contagious. My experience in her class was unforgettable and I learned a ton. I learned more in her class than in all other classes I took in this department together. I wish she taught all upper level courses in Spanish.

Dr. Lucente is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is so intelligent and she truly wants her students to learn the language. She is always willing to help if you express concern but does not give handouts. You will learn more Spanish in her class than in any other classes you've taken combined. Highly recommended

It has been over 10 years since I had Dr. Lucente. She was my mentor and is one of the reasons why I teach Spanish today. She got me a job in the language lab at Duquesne, would give me tickets to the Opera, and opened a whole new world to me. She encouraged me to study abroad in Sevilla my junior year. Great person, great teacher.

Dr. Lucente is incredible and extremely intelligent. You will work hard in her class in order to do well. But, she truly wants you to improve your Spanish skills. It is not true that she favors students frivolously; she likes kids that try hard in her class, even if they struggle. Tip: schedule in advance to go to her office: she is very busy!

Quite possibly the most intelligent person I have ever met. She wants her students to learn Spanish, and learn proper Spanish. She will be hard on correcting her students. But she only wants to prepare them to be accomplished speakers.

Class was interesting, but she is very disorganized. Has her favorites;if you are not a part of her click, she is not as helpful as she should be. I did well because I work hard and didn't need or want her help. Felt sorry for the students who did because she does tend to slight them if they aren't in her click.

I had Dr Lucente for a very long time and she is not only a wonderful person but a excellent teacher. Shes one of the few that actually will cut you a break.Just need to show her that you are serious to learn and she will go the distance

This class started off extremely daunting. I was constantly on-edge and fumbling over my spanish words. But as it went on, I learned a lot and worked the hardest I have ever worked in ANY class so far. Dr. Lucente is incredibly tough, but fair, and always available for help even if she's busy! Don't be scared to take her, you'll learn so much!!!

Had her for 3-week summer course- by far the hardest class I've ever had. She expects everyone to give 110% all the time. It is easy to get overwhelmed, but I've never learned more. Her heart is in the right place and is willing to help out...as long as you show you're not just relying on her. Tough, frustrating...but worth it.

She is really hard, and when you ask her for help she just sends you to a tutor, instead of helping you herself. Her class was really hard, i spent every night i had her at home reading my book and notes for hours and only got a C, dont take her unless you have to.

Dra. Lucente is by far the best teacher I have ever had at Duquesne. She is extremely intelligent, and knows multiple languages. The class can be intimidating at first, but as long as you are willing to work hard you will learn an incredible about of Spanish. She's unorganized, not very clear, and has a subtle way of making students feel stupid. The class has no structure. She also tends to keep students at least five minutes late. I wouldn't suggest taking her unless you have to. She seems nice sometimes, though.
