As said before, extremely loud, but a nice guy and a fairly entertaining class. Not very challenging: his tests test how few errors you can make as opposed to how much spanish you really know.

Rivera is just your typical crazy Puerto Rican man-- loud (ridiculously loud) and unclear but passionate. His tests are quite long, so be prepared. Participate in class, laugh at his jokes, and teach yourself from the book if you actually want or need to learn anything about Spanish grammar and vocab.

Wonderful teacher. Nice guy. He can sometimes get off topic while talking about book themes, but he is always a welath of information. I was not looking forward to the class at the beginning, but I will never regret taking it with Rivera. It's worth taking an 8:30 just to take it with him.

I had him for a Tuesday Thursday at 11:30 and I still had trouble staying awake. Class is boring. He talks the whole time and there is very minimal student discussion. Tests are arbitraray. Class structure is horrible. We spent over half the semester on poetry, and half of a class on essays. Tests are hard and very specific.

His tests are ridiculous. Period. The review sheets are no help whatsoever; they are very misleading. He decided very quickly who he likes and dislikes in the beginning of the semester, and if you are not one of those lucky four, you're screwed. Good luck.

This man is completely out of his mind. His voice is so loud I get headaches during class.I have no idea what he talks about not because his Spanish is hard but because he just doesnt make sense. He yells for no reason and treats his students like babies.Even if you give a right answer hell say your wrong just to give the same answer reworded.

There are several times during class where his accent blurred what he was trying to say in English, and he often doesn't completely answer the question you're asking. He's pretty easy and if you respond in class he'll love you forever, at least till the end of the semester.

Dr. Rivera is a really nice man and also pretty funny. The actual material in spanish 302 (grammar) is difficult but Rivera as a teacher is easy.

He wa my advisor for my Sp Senior Thesis and was really helpful. He guided me through the whole process and I ended up getting an A on my paper and presentation. He's more artsy than others. I'd take him, though his spanish is difficult at times to understand. He's a really nice guy, as well. Take him if you can

I was disappointed in the way he taught this class. The materials he used don't help you to learn spanish, and the stuff he teaches doesn't help either. He is a really easy grader, and there is very little "conversation," he talks a lot about what he thinks. If you want to improve, don't take him.

Rivera is really easy as long as you can speak some form of Spanish. The tests are really easy: just know the vocab words inside and out. You don't really have to keep up with the daily assignments, either. He's entertaining.

I like Rivera a lot. Nice & lots of experience, both as a spanish(PR) guy who moved here and as an actor. He's easy & predictable if you do the work. Some peeps have beef w/him - 'hard to understand'. He doesn't speak english & they don't speak spanish!
