I took her class online and found it to be one of my favorites. If you do the work, you'll be perfectly fine. I'd really encourage you to take it, even online.

VERY unclear when explaining assignments. She can talk a lot without really saying anything. I don't know what I did wrong but she decided she did not like me, so she criticized both me and my writing very publicly several times. However, her grading seems to be mostly fair.

I learned a lot in this course. I wish I had taken it as an undergraduate. It would have helped me write better papers.

She gives a lot of busy work, and while the material can be relevant, it is usually fairly dry and uninteresting. She is clearly intelligent, but can sometimes be a little unclear with what she is teaching or assigning.

Professor Bays is an excellent teacher. She takes a keen interest in your skills as a writer and is very supportive of all your efforts in her class, which is subsequently a good learning experience and very engaging.

She KNOWS the subject she is teaching backwards and forwards, and that familiarity with material comes out in her lectures. She can reword a concept until it is thoroughly communicated. She's also very patient and kind. Getting close to retirement age, she is at the top of her game.

I had Candy Bays as a writing instructor a number of years ago, but she is an exemplary writing instructor. She knows and loves her craft and soars in teaching and inspiring young (and not so young) writers. She is very appreciative of hard work and DON'T be afraid to ask questions! A gem.

Outstanding professor -- made a tough and not terribly engaging subject understandable and interesting. Always willing to explain things. Genuinely interested in helping students develop their intellectual interests. Very dry sense of humor.

Not bad... Assignments were pretty easy but it was hard to sit there some days. Usually she teaches with laptops, so at least there is one plus.

Very good professor, I really enjoy the class. She is more about teaching you why things are wrong instead of just giving you a bad grade.

Good teacher for Japanese literature. Had to read 1000+ pages though.
